Chapter 1: A Reluctant Tutor

Trunks was sitting in the back of the class with his arms crossed glaring at everyone. 'This is so fucking stupid…why do I need to be here…I'm way smarter than everyone here…' Trunks thought as the teacher walked in.

As the teacher began teaching, Trunks noticed that a girl with long blonde hair that was up in two pigtails with buns on top, came running in. "I'm sorry, I'm late!" She said.

"Have a seat ." The teacher, Mr. Toyriama, told her.

She walked to her seat which happened to be right next to Trunks. He glanced at her as she was getting paper out and a pencil to take notes. Trunks was aloof during class, as the teacher talked. "Now, class I am going to be passing back your recent tests." Mr. Toyriama walked around and handed back papers.

Usagi got hers and looked down and stuffed into her bag, Trunks glanced over and saw her grade. '17? She did not do well…huh it says for her to stay after class as well.' Trunks was handed his test back as well, 'Perfect score once again….hold on, he wants to see me after class?'

Once class was over, both Usagi and Trunks approached Mr. Toyriama's desk. "You wanted to see me?" They asked at the same time.

"Yes, , you are not doing well in a lot of your classes." Mr. Toyriama told her, "And Mr. Briefs, you excel in all your classes, except you get into a bit of trouble don't you?"

"What's your point?" Trunks asked crossing his arms, "I have sh-other things to do."

"Thank you for showing restraint and not cursing. Anyway, I think I have a solution. Mr. Briefs, when speaking with the principal he is willing to over look your recent…transgression…if you will be willing to tutor Ms. Tsukino here." Mr. Toyriama explained.

Trunks and Usagi looked at each other then back to their teacher, "Mr. Toyriama, I am not a miracle worker. I saw her recent test grade and I don't know if she is teachable." Trunks said angrily.

Usagi crossed her arms and gave Trunks a small glare, "I am so teachable!" She muttered.

"Mr. Briefs, it's either you tutor here or you get expelled."

Trunks was silent for a few moments, 'I can't get expelled…Mom would kill me, she wants me to make friends here, but I can't handle these people…' "Fine. I'll be her tutor." Trunks said as he turned to face Usagi, "I won't be easy."

Mr. Toyriama ushered them out of his room, as the two stood in the hallway Usagi turned to Trunks. "Um…why would you be expelled?" Usagi asked, trying to break the tension.

Trunks looked at her with a bit of a softer glare than he normally would do, "I got into a fight."

"Oh…"

Usagi and Trunks were quiet for a few more moments, "...Should we get to our tutoring session? We can join my friends at the study group we do." Usagi suggested.

"I don't care." Trunks said in a grumpy manner.

Trunks and Usagi walked out of the school building and Trunks stopped, "Have you ever been on a motorcycle before?"

"Once, why?" Usagi told him.

Without a word, Trunks pulled a capsule from his pocket and tossed it. When the smoke cleared a motorcycle was there. He then put on some sunglasses and handed Usagi a pair. "Put these on." He commanded.

"Um…shouldn't I have a helmet?" Usagi asked, a bit taken back by Trunks' forcefulness.

Trunks groaned, "These have a built in helmet." He pushed a small button on the side of his sunglasses and it turned into a helmet.

Usagi put hers on as well and pressed the button as the helmet appeared. She got on the motorcycle behind Trunks. "You need to hold on, and give me directions." Trunks told her as he started the engine. "These have a built-in system so we can hear and speak to each other if we need to."

Usagi nervously put her hands on his shoulder, "Like this?" She asked, nervousness in her voice. Without giving her an answer he took off. Usagi was getting a bit scared her hands moved from his shoulder to around his waist. 'He has so much muscle…' She thought.

Throughout the ride, Usagi would give directions and Trunks would grunt in acknowledgement and follow them. About ten minutes later, they stopped at the bottom of the stairs to the Shrine where Usagi's study group met. Usagi got off and Trunks followed, they each pressed the button and their helmets turned back into sunglasses. She tried to give them back to Trunks but he just stared at her for a few moments then started up the stairs.

They both climbed the stairs, when they got to the top Trunks saw a group of girls, one with long blonde hair and a red bow in her hair. Another with brown hair pulled up into a ponytail, one had short blue hair, and the other one had long black hair. 'Great, surrounded by annoying girls…' Trunks thought as he and Usagi walked towards the group.

The black haired one turned, "Usagi you are lat-" She started to yell, but stopped when she saw Trunks standing next to Usagi. "Usagi, get away from him!"

"Rei, it's okay. He's my tutor." Usagi told the group.

"TUTOR?!" They yelled.

Trunks sighed, "Yes. Her tutor. Can we get this over with? I have shit I need to do."

Apprehensively, the group went into Rei's room, with quick introductions to everyone they got started. "Usagi, let me see your work." Trunks demanded.

Usagi handed him her homework, he quickly scanned it. "You've made simple mistakes on the problems. Thus making all your calculations wrong." Trunks said as he pointed to her mistakes. "This one you added instead of multiplying."

Usagi took back the paper and started to fix her mistakes. The girls looked at each other and silently came to an agreement. "You could be a bit nicer you know." Rei scolded.

Trunks crossed his arms, "I could. But I don't want to. I'm just doing this so I don't get expelled."

The group worked in relative silence, Trunks to everyone's surprise, was actually a good tutor. "...So then when you carry the 2, you should get the answer." Trunks said as he guided Usagi through the math problems.

Usagi listened to Trunks' instructions, "Finally done!" She said, "I don't like math." Usagi put her homework away in her bag.

"Well if you are done, then I am as well." Trunks told her as he stood up, "I'll give you a ride home."

Rei stood up, "No, you won't. Usagi won't be doing that."

"I didn't realize that your name was Usagi. I was just trying to be considerate." Trunks told her with a glare, "It's up to her anyway." Trunks crossed his arms.

Usagi bit her lip, "I do need to get home anyway." Trunks walked out and Usagi followed him. "Thank you."

Trunks just grunted as he got back on his motorcycle. Both put the sunglasses on and switched them to the helmet mode. Usagi got on behind Trunks and her friends saw this. Trunks rolled his eyes at her friends glaring at him. He started his motorcycle and took off.

Usagi gave him directions to her house. "...So why did you offer to take me home?"

"There has been more crime around recently, didn't want you getting hurt." Trunks told her bluntly.

The two rode in silence until Trunks stopped in front of her house. Usagi got off of the motorcycle and turned to Trunks, "Thanks again." She said switching her helmet to sunglasses. She took them off and handed them out to Trunks.

"Keep them." He said as he turned off the bike, he switched his back to sunglasses. "You might need them again." He gave her a wink.

Her cheeks went red, "Are we going to meet every day for you to tutor me?"

Trunks took out a small notebook and a pen, he wrote something quickly on it. "Take this." Trunks handed her the paper. He started the bike again and turned the glasses back into a helmet and drove off.

Usagi looked at the paper, on it was written, 'Here is my number. Don't give it out to people. Don't call or message for trivial things.' Looking at the paper, Usagi was in shock. She turned and walked into her house, she went up to her room. Luna, her cat and advisor, was sitting on her bed.

"What's wrong, Usagi?" Luna asked as she noticed the expression on Usagi's face.

"I..I was given a tutor today. His name is Trunks Briefs." Usagi told her.

Luna nodded, "I remember you and the girls talking about him a while back, he is what you girls call a mysterious bad boy, right?"

"Yeah, anyway we had our first tutoring session today. He was kinda strict, but I understood what he was telling me…" Usagi told Luna, "He gave me a ride home on his motorcycle, and then gave me this."

Usagi showed Luna the note, "His number?...Usagi, what is your opinion on this boy?"

Laying back on her bed, Usagi sighed, "To be honest, I think he puts on a mask to hide who he is. He is extremely smart, he keeps to himself, and I think he's kinda cute."

"Puts on a mask?" Luna questioned, "What makes you say that?"

"I can see in his eyes that there is something more. He can be nice, he gave these to keep and I don't know…I think there is something more to him." Usagi told her.

Sitting up, Usagi grabbed her phone. She put in Trunks' number. Usagi typed out a message. 'Hi Trunks, it's Usagi. I just thought I'd send you a message so you'd have my number too. We can meet tomorrow for another tutor lesson? Maybe at the library or something?' Usagi hit the send button, she was nervous.

—-Meanwhile—-

Trunks was helping his mother, Bulma, in the lab fixing robots. "So honey, how was school?" Bulma asked.

"Eh, about normal. Completely bored, but I was given an ultimatum." Trunks told her as he tightened some bolts.

"An ultimatum? Of what?"

Trunks rubbed the back of his neck, "Do you remember when I sent those two boys to the hospital for saying bad things about you?" Bulma nodded. Trunks continued, "I was told that if I tutor this girl, then they won't expel me."

"Trunks, honey, I sent you to school to make friends. I don't want you to be antisocial like your father." Bulan said, "Maybe this girl will help with that."

Shrugging his shoulders Trunks finished up with his mom, "Alright Mom, since I finished with you. Dad wants me to train with him for a bit in the Gravity Room."

Trunks walked towards the Gravity Room, after he changed into more comfortable clothes. As he made his way there, he heard his phone ping. 'It's probably Goten.' Trunks pulled out his phone and saw a message from a number he didn't recognize. When he opened it he saw the message that Usagi sent him. He smiled, 'So she did message me.' Trunks quickly typed out a message, 'Usagi, I can meet you in the library tomorrow. I would prefer if our tutoring sessions would be in private from now on.'

He sent the message, hoping it conveyed the bad boy reputation he had. 'She is pretty cute though…this could be fun.' Trunks thought as he entered the Gravity Room and saw his father, Vegeta, already training.

"You're late." Vegeta grunted out.

"Yeah, yeah. I know."

Trunks and Vegeta got into the fighting stances and began sparring with each other. "Come on, Son. I want you to be able to surpass me."

"I will, old man! You can bet on that!" Trunks said as he threw a flurry of punches at his father.

After a while Trunks and Vegeta ceased their training and Trunks collapsed onto his bed. He checked his phone and saw two messages. The first was Goten asking him if they can hang out this weekend. Trunks quickly replied with a yes.

The second message was from Usagi, 'I will meet you at the library after school, right?'

'Right.' Trunks took a quick shower and went to bed. Unsure of what might happen at school tomorrow.
