"Freak. Monster. I was called every name in the book. By kids who were barely older then eight." A young teen spoke as he felt his canine get slightly sharper. The other one was growing back. He look behind him and saw the sleeping form of a cat. He slowly stood up and walk towards his bed. He never slept anymore, he just didnt need it now.
As he slowly lowered himself onto his bed, the past started to flash before him again. It hadn't been long sense he left it behind but maybe he should revist to see what went wrong.
12 Years earlier.
"Izuku...we're sorry to inform you and your mom but youre quirkless." The bald doctor said as he looked at a four year old sitting. His mom instantly rushed to comfort the boy, his hurt stung as he watch the boy cry as a smile remained on his face.
Soon the mom and son duo left the clinic. The boy stopped and looked up still smiling, as way to hide the pain but the tears betrayed him. "Do...do you think dad will be happy?" It was quite as he was pulled into a hug. "Dont worry about what daddy thinks, okay?"
His moms voice echoed throughout his head as they continued to walk home. Something stung at his chest as more tears continued to fall.
10 Years earlier.
Izuku was now six years old. But that meant the beatings got just worse. It was the seventh of January, and his father had returned back home smelling of booze and perfume. He hid in his room as the sound of crashing and glass hitting the ground flooded the house. Then it became quiet, still and unnerving.
He jumped as the sound of the front door slammed open then shut. Maybe dad had left after mom told him to leave, he stood up and walked towards his bedroom door. He didnt dare make a noise as he inched closer. He heard steps coming to his room and he smiled, maybe mom was coming to tell him it was alright.
He rushed to the door with a smile plastered onto his face as he reached for the door. *Thunk* pain shot through his whole body as the smell and taste of blood filled his senses. When Izuku looked up, he saw his father with a cut eyebrow and fury in his eyes.
He instinctively put his arms up to protect his head. That just made it worse. "You're a bastards child! Youre whore of a mother gave birth to a worth pirce of shit!" He didn't know what most of the words his father spat at him. But he didnt really care, as his vision became blurry as another fist landed right on his already broken nose.
8 Years earlier.
His mother left him. Left him alone. Left him alone with his father. Everyday was the same. School, get told he was a freak, get told to jump off the school roof, home, beaten, sleep and repeat.
He would have been able to stand it if his mom was still with him. But she left. And the world felt like it was collapsing around him. Every day it slowly fell around him, but never hitting him. The pieces of the world avoided him, just like the people.
He was angry. No he was livid. He wanted the pieces to hit him. To end his existence but they never did.
6 Years earlier.
Something was wrong. A slight fog had enveloped his neighborhood, and school. Someone's quirk was out of control. But he liked it, it put the attention onto someone else.
Another effect was him learning how to hide. He was a shadow. And the mist amplified it ten fold. The shadows were darker and it was like he melded with them. He felt safe.
Except for one day. It was like his senses became sharper. The sun felt as if it was burning him alive, he could smell people from across the street. He could see every twich in their eyes, their muscles. And he could barely hear the thumping of their heart. But as quick as it came it vanished.
something was seriously wrong.
4 Years earlier.
His teeth got sharper, and the mist was thinker. But it started to slowly dissipate in some areas. people considered it a good thing, others hated it. And Izuku was apart of the people who hated that the mist was dissipating. It helped him hide.
People weren't focused on him. Even his father stopped beating him. Something about the mist being to unnatural even for a quirk.
That took even more attention off of him. And was free to due what he wanted. And that was to figure out how quirks are part of DNA. And to see if he could give himself a quirk, something that people would respect.
One day he thought he cracked the code. The only person who believed in him was a girl slightly older than him. Her name was Mei, and when he told her hell broke lose.
"I'm sorry Izu, back that couldn't possibly work! Wait...no it could work! Explain it again so I can write it down!" His head hurt at hearing her loud voice but explained once more.
"Okay, let's take yours and my mom's quirk. I could have got yours, mom's or a new one. But quirks are based all around DNA. So if you could find the DNA strand that holds a person quirk, you could take a sample. And after that sample has been taken, you could implant it into a new host to make a quirkless kid have said quirk."
Her face went through many emotions but landed on one of slight disappointment. "I don't think it would work Izu. There's so many factors to consider. Such as how would you get a sample of the quirk first and what that would do someone." Izuku cut her off as the sound of loud footsteps came closer to them. "We'll talk later okay?" And then he walked off to a corner that was unnaturally dark. Mei frowned as she knew who footsteps they were. But she gave a bright smile to the shadows and walked to class humming a tune he liked.
2 Years earlier.
He started to crave more meaty foods. Ones that look almost uncooked. But he didnt mind, it tasted good and thats all that matters. He was about to take another bite out of his rice ball that was coveted in some juice from a small steak that he bought from a restaurant.
He turned around and saw Mei holding a new thing. "Mei...I love the expression on your face...but please don't point that thing towards me." Mei's face dropped as she slowly shuffled over to him. She was using puppy dog eyes on him. "No...I said no..."
He gave in as he was now standing with a weird device strapped to his chest as a potato cannon was aimed at him. He couldn't help it, she was to cute. He was cut from his thoughts as a potato flew at light speed towards bis forehead. But nothing happened. He didnt realize he had closed his eyes but as he slowly opened them, he saw said potato floating inches from his face.
"I knew it would work!" Mei had shouted before her face turned into a sad frown. He knew what was coming but didn't want it to be true. "Why not go to a school we botb can go to?" Izuki asked, it was a last ditch effort to try to convince her. But he knew it wasn't going to work, Mei was cut off as Izuku walked up to her and gave her a tight hug.
"You're better suited for UA." And then the school bell rung, putting the school year to a close. He felt tears land on his shoulder as his best and only friend held him close. He noticed the fog around the school lessened and he smiled. Mei had hatted the fog, and the feeling of the sun reaching her made her look up. The fog around the school had lifted just enough to allow the sun to hit Mei.
She smiled as she tried to wipe the tears away but failed as that made her cry more. It was a beautiful sight. She was beautiful, but she was destined to have someone better. "Okay, let's go get some food. To celebrate you going and definitely getting into UA."
Sne just smiled as she ran slightly a head of him. His food laid abandoned on that roof as they walked towards a nice steakhouse. "She really is beautiful."
Final day of school. 4 months earlier.
He slowly walked towards his normal place to eat. The fog was heavier after Mei and a lot of people left the school. But he was glad she left. She didn't need to stand up for him anymore, and she could make as many invitations at UA.
But that was a lie. He didn't want her to see what he's become. A monster and a freak. People were right about him. And he reached into his bag and pulled out a small container. Once he opened it, his mouth started to salivate more then it ever did. He tried eating normal food but when that didn't work he ordered not so normal food.
And so he picked up a raw and very bloody cut of meat. He couldn't help himself. And he plunged his teeth in the meat.
He felt himself shaking, maybe some tears were following but he didnt care. This was the best piece of food he's ever had. And he just stayed there for a couple of hours. Saving the flavor that had been blessed to him.
And when the bell rung, he stood up and started to head towards his and Mei's favorite steakhouse.
He was close now, he smelt the meat and his mouth elevated even more. He was going to be in heaven after eating with Mei one more. Maybe he'll confess his feelings for her.
*Thunk*
It happened to fast for him to do anything. He felt blood drip from his head as his vision swam. The steakhouse was getting further and further. And more trash appeared around him. Finally he had some strength to look up. He saw three boys in UA outfits.
They were all laughing st him, one even mocked him as he took out his junk and started to piss on him. He tried to stop the piss from reaching his face but to no avail.
Then it started. They aimed for his ribs. They kicked, punched and even used some kind of metal from a quirk. It hurt, and they definitely broke a few ribs. Izuku was coughing and trying to breath. But stopped as all feelings in his right hand disappeared. He could barely see but it was gone.
Then the pain. The pain of lossing a limb, he started to scream but a frim layer of ice covered his mouth blocking the sound.
He lost count of time. But it was late afternoon now. The sun was setting and they boys had their fun. They took photos of his broken body with his own phone and sent it to everyone on his contact list. Mei was the first to respond but the boys got annoyed by this and landed a kick straight to his neck.
Izuku felt the blood flooding his mouth. Warm, metallic, suffocating. Every breath he tried to take came out in a wet rasp, the pain digging deeper with each second. His body trembled, muscles twitching uselessly as he slumped over, his knees hitting the cold, filthy ground of the alleyway.
He was going to die here. By wanna be heros. Their laughter still echoed in the back of his mind, even though they were gone now. Or maybe they weren't. Maybe they were just standing back, watching him choke on his own blood like they were watching a dog they'd run over.
His fingers clawed weakly at the concrete, nails cracking as he tried to move—do something, anything. But his body wouldn't listen. The world started to dim, colors draining from his vision, sound blurring into a thick, underwater hum. It sounded just like the one Meo hummed
It was quiet. Peaceful.
A sound echoed throughout the ally, it sounded like footsteps runing in water. Izuku felt something inside his chest stir. His heart stuttered, he started beating wildly. Another sharp pain burst through as it his heart imploded.
His eyes closed as pain rocked his body.
But for the three UA boy it was a different story. They saw the boys blood slowly recead back into his body. The fog had disappeared near the steakhouse but now? Now it was rolling in harder. And it all started from broken body in front of them.
It was hard to breathe, and they tried running but something grabbed them and pulled them back. Fear...nothing but pure fear was plastered across their faces as the body rose from the ground. He was hunched over as blood ran out of his mouth as if it had to leave.
Then Izuku's head snapped up. Deep red eyes pierced the boys. One tried to run, but the fog didn't allow it. Two boys watched their friend barley get three steps before the fog tore him apart. Limb from limb.
The second boy tried to scream but dropped as blood rushed out of mouth in groves.
The third one tried begging but stopped the moment Izuku moved.
His bones cracked like dry twigs, muscle and sinew snapping into place in ways that should've been impossible. His skin twitched where wounds once bled. His body wasn't healing—it was restitching itself, strand by strand, like it had never belonged to him at all.
The boy whimpered, wide-eyed and trembling. Then, blind with fear, he lunged. Izuku didn't flinch. With a twitch of his wrist, four jagged spikes—dull and pulsing like diseased veins—shot from the mist.
One pierced each shoulder. One his thigh. And the fourth drove itself deep into his abdomen with a nasty, sloshing crunch. The boy hung in the air, twitching, pinned like a specimen.
Blood streamed from the wounds, but it never reached the floor—the fog drank it, curling upward in greedy wisps. The scent turned metallic and hot, like rust burning on a stovetop.
Izuku stepped closer, his blood-caked feet silent in the thickening mist. His eyes glowed—a deep, ancient red. His mouth watered. He was starving.
The boy tried to speak, to beg again, but no words came. Just a sob as Izuku reached up, calmly, and pressed his fingers into the boy's stomach.
Slow. Gentle. Then—he pushed.
Flesh parted beneath his hand like soaked paper. The boy screamed—high, shrill, shattered. Izuku gripped something deep inside.
And then he tore.
A torrent of blood and viscera poured out of the cavity with a slick, sickening rip. The sound was wet and final. The boy's body convulsed once, then went limp.
Still impaled, he hung like a puppet with its strings cut. Then the spikes retracted, melting into the mist with a hiss.
The body fell. A heavy, meaty thud, followed by the slop of organs hitting cold pavement.
The mist immediately rushed in, wrapping around the corpse like vines. It hissed and churned as it swallowed the remains—bone, blood, and cloth dissolving into fog, consumed without mercy.
Izuku stared down at what was left—nothing. No flesh. No face. Just mist. He lifted his blood-soaked hand and brought it to his lips.
He drank.
And in that moment, the alley seemed to breathe. The mist grew thicker, heavier, folding over itself. It no longer drifted aimlessly—it clung to Izuku's body like a shroud, curling at his shoulders, lacing around his limbs.
He felt alive.
But he dropped to the floor as he felt drained. The fog slowly dissipated and screams from people outside the alleyway filled his head. Before it dropped as he felt sleep take him.
