1989 passed incredibly slowly for Daphne Greengrass…that's not true. It passed slowly till the fateful days of July 31st and August 1st. From that point onwards the weeks blended and Christmas of 1989 was almost upon her. During that time in the waning months of the year, she hadn't been able to get out of her house and meet with Harry due to her parent's sudden anger with her venture to Diagon Alley, despite the fact she had told them and their brushing off the information. So instead she and Harry wrote to each other incessantly.

August 10th Harry to me

Dear Daph,

It's been rather boring over here. I expected this though, cause the pricks are now almost always off at their "headquarters" or someplace with their mentors. I don't mind though if I'm being honest. It's nice to not have to always be ready to dodge a spell. Not that they have attacked me after they saw my wand. Especially with my new wand not being a piece of trash like the one I used at the party. It's been so nice to finally be able to cast magic. I'm sure you feel the same way but I have to say it again, this is so cool! We can put the stuff we learned into practice. I haven't been able to start modifying any spells sadly, I've been rather busy making sure that I could do most of the basic charms and transfiguration spells that are used in the first couple of years at Hogwarts. They are basic as hell but most of them I plan on modifying to be usable in more sticky situations. Like Lapifors normally it turns a single object into a rabbit, but what if you change the spell to have a larger hit radius? I'm going to find a way to make the spell stream either spread out and hit multiple targets or have a conductive factor to it. So I could then blast up a cloud of dust and swarm the enemy with a horde of killer rabbits! Don't laugh, I know you are as you read this. But mark my words before long that swarm of killer rabbits will be a world-renowned ability. Wait… don't quote me on that, I don't want to be known as a rabbit lord that's lame.

I've found a brilliant idea for the Nimbus! It's absolutely genius if I do say so myself. But there is one slight issue. First, let me tell you the idea, let's make it fly! Can you imagine that? Us flying around the world in a ship as mythical as the Argos. Maybe we can steal the blueprints of the Argos. That would certainly help modify the ship, it's too bad the Greeks keep such a tight hold on those. Technically the Minoans have it but their just a subgroup of Greeks, despite their hate for the mainlanders. But when I thought of the idea I immediately went to the runes section of the library, and to my utter surprise I found something helpful. That never happens! Then I found the roadblock I mentioned earlier, we aren't good enough at runes to keep the ship afloat permanently. We could probably find a way to temporarily fly but currently and probably for a solid while I couldn't find a way to properly overlay the scheme and on top of that I would have to learn a new runic language. Elder Futhark is notoriously bad for flight, as mentioned in the translator bad. While thinking of an alternate Pipkin saved us yet again, as he mentioned the people of New Zealand. Their master shipwrights! And on top of that, they have made countless galleons selling different runic schemes, none for permanent flight but I'm sure we could find someone to make this happen. Let me know your thoughts on the idea, If you disagree let me know I can find a different gimmick for the ship.

From, yours truly

(P.s Pipkin said to send over your current measurements for the clothes)

Dear Lord of Rabbits,

Your an idiot Harry, but don't get too angry at me oh lord of the fluffy bunnies. I've been rather busy over here unlike you it seems. As I've begun to start studying further past the third year theoretically at least. I'm still stuck on some of the second-year transfigurations. I've found that I am much better at charms than the other practical applications of magic. I already can cast most of the 3rd year's spells! All of that boring studying seems to be paying off. But the issue is I don't have the physical capabilities right now to cast anything super advanced or powerful. Charms-wise, I've started to work on basic enchantments, so far I can make a small wooden doll march about my room, I cast the spell a day ago and it is still moving quite well! I cannot be bothered with spell modification like you, how you can process the required theory and then put so much time into mastering the base spell is beyond me. As such I've decided to start learning a new branch of magic, well one new branch and a subbranch of charms. Alchemy may be the most powerful branch of magic. I can already sense you whipping out your quill and writing about your precious elemental magic but even that pales in comparison to alchemy. I'm not talking about the basic stuff that can be replicated through runes and enchantments even if those are pale imitations. True alchemy is the greatest thing ever, the books here only mention a few examples of it but what is possible is limitless. Immortality becomes possible, forcefully purging the body of a soul and then replacing it, anything you can think of you can achieve! The other ideas that I have are a tad bit out there and very complicated to achieve. But I've started on the basics from what seems to be the oldest book that we have in the house. The pages seem like they are about to turn to dust if I'm being honest.

About the Nimbus, I LOVE that idea! Sweet Merlin, it's genius! How you of all people thought of it is beyond me completely. I will leave the means of creating flight to you as you have an idea already. It would also be good for us to sail the ship a long distance to get better acquainted with it. I'll see if I can visit it at the shipyard if I cannot I'll owl you the address so you can check and see if it needs repairs and the such.

Speaking on the Argos and the myth surrounding it. I have a question for you. As in multiple books, I've read and even in our conversation with Ollivander, there have been mentions of mythical figures, their abilities, and how they affected the world and cultures. Are the different mythos and pantheons real? Are there figures of unimaginable power somewhere in the world? Are their powers and knowledge still affecting the world? Can we learn and replicate what they can do? All of this has been stewing in the back of my mind and I would like to see what you think.

To my loyal servant,

I think it's best to answer your question first. Yes, I do believe that there are different pantheons spread about the world with their magics and abilities. Along with that, there definitely are a multitude of lost cities and mythical creatures scattered around the world. As I write this there could very we be a breakthrough deep in the Amazon rainforest with the discovery of an ancient power to control the sun like the Aztec gods. My belief in this is partially a reason for me to travel the world and learn some esoteric magics. The thought is fascinating, terrifying as well but fascinating at the same time. If you end up disagreeing with me on this I still would accompany you as you get away from Britain even if the journey isn't what I had liked or wanted to do in retrospect.

On a less heavy note, my transfiguration and combat charms have begun to reach the point where I am comfortable and confident to use them should a conflict happen to involve me. My main break though with transfiguration was to begin to modify previously existing spells. It's begun to work out spectacularly, on top of that I have begun to dabble in more combative transformations by making stone and other materials turn into fire-breathing animal heads and other forms. My favorite is turning a mass of stone into a very basic, can't stress the basic enough, dragon. But the damn thing keeps attacking me once the target is destroyed. This has caused a few close calls if I'm being honest. My charms have advanced in tandem with the advent of my transfiguration advances. Mainly in the form of animation charms that give my creations purpose and an objective. But if I'm being honest there is only one spell that's been on my mind for the last couple of days. I found it on the very last page of the mystery journal, the second one. A new spell that may very well be the most powerful spell in existence if used by a powerful magician. Protego Diabolica is the name of the spell, Daph the description of the spell is the single most frightening thing. It is a shield charm that uses what seems to be hellfire as a blockade. And had it just been that I wouldn't be so caught up in it, the fire can be used offensively and once cast if the user has strong enough willpower it will autonomously attack and protect you while the person or people in the middle do other things. But if your willpower isn't enough to fight off hell? It transforms into a fiery monster that can destroy massive cities and areas of land. Apparently, Paris and Berlin were almost subject to this back during the 40's. Don't be too upset, but I have attempted to cast the spell. I know, I know, I shouldn't have. But it was chewing away at my soul and very being. Thankfully the only result I got was a small burst of flame coming out of my wand, it was a light blue, the most peculiar color but not hot at all. When it touched the ground, even though it was barely aflame, it melted the ground almost a foot before I canceled the spell. In 1 minute it did that. How the hell did someone cast this fully? I hope to find out but may never know.

I've got that rant out of my system. The letter I sent to New Zealand has gotten a response. There is a young ship right who knows how to create what we need. However, the price and timing are quite inconvenient and troublesome. We will have to use the remaining sum in the business account to get there and modify the ship. But that's not the main problem, he said that he would need to see us no later than the 5th of April 1990. I didn't want to give a definite no so I had him waiting for a response, we have till around Yule to confirm our appointment.

P.s- the renovations are going well, I'll send a picture with the next letter

October 11th

Dear Harry,

I'm sorry for not writing, but my parents saw fit to take away my owl and not allow any outside communication since a few days after your last letter. It may have been my fault, but Tracey deserved it. Let me explain: The weekend after your last letter, the Davis family came over to visit, and for the first time in years, Tracey came too. I attempted to get away from her but my parents were quite adamant in us mending our friendship. I had no plans of doing so due to her cursing me at the party but I thought it best to play along with it. Her view of Eveline, Simon, and Neville is disgusting. It was hero worship, everything that she spoke about somehow related to how they were the best and better than all that came before and that would come after them. That wouldn't have angered me too much but she then began to talk about how they all view and have been treating you during their training. I refuse to write what they think of you, I refuse to even materialize the lies and vile intentions that they have thought about you. That was the first crack before the dam broke. But then she said she had some message from Eveline. Your sister offered me a place on her team, saying how you had corrupted me and she forgives me for it. Offering to allow me to join the exclusive training and other activities Tracey had been rambling about. My temper started to boil over but her next comment exploded. She said that I would be rewarded should I provide my weaknesses and combat habits! She thought my loyalty was for sale! How dare they. So I did the only proper thing. I attempted to curse her with a bat-bogey hex. She blocked it, we weren't wrong at the party, it was a pathetic shield for someone who had been training for years. I cut through her shield like a hot knife through butter, it was exhilarating. So there she was lying on the ground with her foot trapped between the earth and small cuts littering her arms when the adults showed up. I was disarmed and sent immediately to my room.

I just got my wand back to sneak and send this letter to inform you about my silence. I don't know if I am too late, but they are planning something, Harry. I don't know, but they will move soon. I'll send you a letter when I can. Don't respond to this for now. Can't have them know I sent a letter.

Be safe, Daphne

P.S. Don't say I've never stuck my neck out something for you, do be safe. For me?
