Chapter 9

"You seem excited, Usagi-san." Asagi smiled as she moved some of her dark blue hair out of her eyes. The blonde girl next to her was practically bubbling and boucing in place.

"My Mamo-chan is coming to Las Vegas today!" She clapped in giddiness.

"Your boyfriend, huh?" Asagi asked and Usagi nodded. "Must be nice to have him be able to come and visit you." She said as the two walked down the street towards the airport. "Sadly my Kousuke can't come to see me."

"Your boyfriend?" Usagi asked and Asagi nodded.

"Yeah, our relationship's a little complicated, but," a soft blush came to Asagi's face as she thought about it, "I hope after this, I can retire as a Taimanin and live as Kousuke's wife."

"I feel that." Usagi said with a nod, knowing how it felt to want to just be a simple housewife and not have to face the end of the world every few months. "I'm sure that it will work out between you."

Asagi smiled in thanks as she thought about Kousuke. "My Kou-kun is quite wonderful, like his brother was."

"He has a brother?" Usagi asked, curious about who Asagi had as a lover.

"No, he had a brother." Asagi said with a sad sigh. "Kyousuke died in my arms eight years ago." Usagi gasped and Asagi shook her head. "I loved him so much. His death's already been avenged." Images of her beloved Kyosuke laying with his body twisted and mutated before she was forced to kill him to put him out of his misery, how Oboro laughed at her angst and despair, how she had killed Oboro out of revenge all flashed through her mind. "His brother was still a child, I took Kou-kun in and raised him like my younger brother." A blush came to her face, "but he fell in love with me."

Usagi put her hand on Asagi's shoulder, causing the Taimanin to look at the blonde. "I'm sorry about your first love."

Asagi had a soft expression on her face. "It's okay. Sometimes bad things happen for no reason."

"Can I ask, why did you tell me this?" Usagi asked, curious and Asagi smiled at her.

"The way you looked when you talked about your boyfriend reminded me of how I was eight years ago." Asagi sighed softly and looked up at the sky, seeing something that wasn't there even as the wind picked up and made her hair dance around her. "I guess I got nostalgic is all."

"You're too young to be nostalgic!" Usagi yelled while waving her arms up and down. "Leave that to old people."

Asagi sweat-dropped heavily as she heard that. "I'm five years older than you are." Usagi just laughed while sticking her tongue out. "And, maybe, I just felt like I could trust you." Usagi blinked before smiling.

"Well, I'm glad I could help."

"So..." Asagi asked as they waited for the light to change so they could walk across the street. "How long have you and your Mamo-chan been dating?"

"Hmm," Usagi put a finger on her cheek as she thought about it, "since I was fourteen. Sometimes we broke up when we were going through some rough patches in our lives, but I've seen the future." Her eyes sparkled as she ignored the weird looks people gave her. The lights changed and people quickly made their way across the street while Usagi and Asagi walked at a slower pace. "I know that Mamo-chan and I are destined to get together."

"Sometimes the future you saw isn't the future you'll get." Asagi said softly and Usagi looked at her strangely. "...What?"

Usagi shook her head. "Nothing." Those words weren't quite the same that Galaxia had said, but they were close and part of Usagi was worried about that. But she knew that there wasn't much she could do about it at that moment as she looked at her phone and then perked up as she realized that Mamoru would be there soon. "Come on!"

Elsewhere...

"Surprised that you're out here." A deep female voice spoke up and Oboro turned her head to see Ingrid walking out onto the balcony. "I thought you were supposed to be figuring out when we could sneak into Las Vegas."

"We'll be able to in by the end of summer." Oboro told her cooly. "At least that's what Black-sama's information source said."

"Yeah..." Ingrid narrowed her eyes. "I don't like him."

"For once, we agree." Oboro said with a nod.

*Flash*

Satanael smiled as the television screen turned on, revealing a human-shaped dog that moved in weird ways. "Ah, yes, my personal benefactor."

"Greetings, Satanael, Edwin Black, Oboro and Ingrid." The voice on the other end was male, but there was an obvious mechanical distortion effect with the voice, making it impossible to tell just who was speaking. "I apologize for using this avatar to speak to you, but as of right now, I must keep who I am a secret. That will change soon enough, but for now, please put up with it."

"Who are you?" Edwin asked and the dog shook its head.

"I apologize, but even hinting at who I am would be problematic. For now, call me Mr. D."

"D as in dog." Satanael told them. "And despite the fact that I've never met this person myself, he's given me such interesting bits of information, such as a way to reincarnate humans and others into Fallen Angels."

"Unfortunately, much like the current Angel Reincarnation and Devil Reincarnation, Dragons and Gods are off the table and you need more pieces for stronger beings." The dog said. "I'm sure that you've come across a reincarnated human a few times in your life."

"Yes, they're annoying." Edwin said with a nod. "So you can turn humans directly into Fallen Angels now?"

"With Heaven's Angel supply dwindling and how difficult it is to successfully have children, this is the fastest way to repopulate the Fallen Angels." Satanael said as he held up a rectangular tile with three small dots on it, a dividing line and five dots in the shape of an "X" on the other side of it. The tile was white and the dots and dividing line were all red as they glowed softly. "I have no interest in restarting the Great War, but I'm sure that this would be interesting to the other leaders if they hadn't banished me from the Grigori." He shrugged, it was unimportant, and put his tile away. "Mr. D, please explain some stuff to our guests."

"Of course." The dog nodded. "For now, you need to lay low. Near the end of summer, the Deadly Sin of Avarice will be leaving for Hell to partake in a Rating Game and the Time Witch will be busy in Japan, leaving none of the defenders with the ability to see what will happen. On that day, you will move into Sin City and meet at a hotel that I have arranged for you. I would appreciate it if you do not bring your dirty laundry to the hotel."

"We'll do our best." Edwin Black said and nodded. "I just have one question for you, how can you assure us of your intentions?"

"Because I am the only one in this world who knows how to counter both the Sin of Avarice and the Time Witch perfectly as I have dealt with their kind before."

"Well..." Edwin slowly grinned. "That sounds promising. We'll keep in touch."

"Of course." The voice said as the screen turned off.

*End Flashback*

"Things are getting interesting, that's for sure." Oboro said as she grinned and stood straight up. "I'm going to go find some thugs to kill." She snorted at Ingrid's disdainful look. "I'm going to dress like a slut and see if anyone tries to force themselves on me." She then walked past Ingrid to get dressed.

"Considering the things that you've done to your enemies, can you really say anything?" Ingrid asked and Oboro laughed as she left.

"No, but society won't miss people like that."

"Well, can't disagree with the reasoning for once." The dark-skinned woman said as she flexed her fingers. "Hmm, I should go find a training center." Reno might be a rather small city compared to the likes of New York City or Paris, but it was still almost three hundred square kilometers in size.

As she walked inside, she was greeted by Satanael talking to the maids, who nodded and walked off. "Ah, miss Ingrid." The Fallen Angel smiled at her. "Are you off somewhere? Your friend..." He trailed off at the cool feeling in the air. "Ah, your... Co-worker?" Ingrid gave a tiny nod. "Well, either way, she seemed busy, do you know what that was about?"

Ingrid shrugged. "She's looking for fun, whatever she does is on her." They all knew they had to keep a low profile and Oboro knew that Ingrid would deal with her if she got out of hand. "I have a question for you, Fallen." Satanael nodded, smiling pleasantly at her. "Why are you helping Black-sama?"

"Hmm?" Satanael blinked a few times and nodded. "Well," he walked over to the window and looked out of it. "To understand, I'll have to tell you a bit about me, if you don't mind?" When Ingrid said nothing, he continued, "you see, I was interested in Sacred Gears, much like Azazel. I wanted to know what these Divine Artifacts that Father created could truly do. When the first Balance Break was discovered, I realized that if Sacred Gears could evolve into stronger versions of themselves, then they could become Longinus. Azazel disagreed with me, and I was removed from the Grigori as a result." He chuckled and turned to face Ingrid. "And now, a new stage was discovered, a Fully Mastered state? And with someone who has the power of omniscience running around?" A maniacal gleam came to his eyes as he grinned. "I shall have this power. Edwin Black wants a human woman for whatever purposes he wants, I have no problem with this."

"I see," Ingrid nodded slowly, "so you'll help him get what he wants and he helps you?"

Satanael nodded. "Indeed," the maniac gleam in his eyes slowly left, "my benefactor has knowledge of powers that I have never heard of, Edwin Black's own unique abilities and my own experience combined will give us quite the edge over the Deadly Sin of Avarice and her ninjas..." He trailed off and a frown came to him. "The thing that worries me the most are the Sailor Senshi." Ingrid raised an eyebrow and he waved his hand. "Do not worry about it. But if you face a Senshi down, your best bet is to run." He turned and walked out of the room. "Or you won't survive the encounter."

"Ominous." Ingrid muttered as she walked out of the room and past two of the maids, who stepped aside to let her out. She paused as she looked at the two girls. Both were fairly short, barely coming up to her breasts and were far flatter than she was. One had dusky brown skin, brown eyes and curly brown hair and the other one had a more fair complexion, green eyes and wavy red hair. "Do you two hate this?" She asked them.

"Better being experimented on by Satanael than being beaten and dying in some warlord's labor camp." The dark skinned one said.

The redhead simply bowed to Ingrid. "I was a cartel sex pet because I couldn't pay them enough money to get me across Mexico and to America."

"I see." Ingrid said with a nod. "Sorry for bringing it up." She quickly left the two maids, who looked at each other and nodded while cleaning up.

"Was that true, Mary?" The dark-skinned one asked and Mary nodded as she began cleaning the windows.

"Yes, June. I was passed around like a cheap whore." Mary looked at the window while cleaning. "There's no reason to think about that time in my life."

"Agreed." June said as the two worked.
