Chapter 2
Narrator's POV
Aunt May had just gotten off work. She picked up a few pizzas from Giant Pizza down the street. They had really good Pizzas that were bigger than regular ones. With Peter and now Shadow's metabolisms she had to get double the amount of food. For them. It was a good thing that Bruce and Tony were helping her out .
May opened the door and as soon as she stepped inside Shadow grabbed the Pizza boxes and put them on the table.
"Hello Aunt May welcome home." Shadow said.
Peter hugs his Aunt. "Hey Aunt May. How was work?" He asked.
May smiled at her two boys. "It was good. I was able to get the vacation days I wanted."
Peter smiled at that. "That's good."
Shadow looked between the two of them. "Why do you need to take vacation days. Peter still has school and The Holidays are over. So why you take time off. Not that I mind. I'm just curious."
Peter and May shared a look. A look that Shadow is very familiar with. They were planning something but he didn't know what it was.
"We'll tell you at the table." They said in unison.
The three of them went to the kitchen and sat at the table. Shadow had already set the table for them. So all they had to do was sit and enjoy the food.
May smiled. "Thank you for setting the table Shadow."
Shadow nodded.
"Now can you tell me what you two are hiding?" He asked his curiosity was reaching its peak.
Peter nods. "We're going to Gotham for a few weeks. We're going to introduce you to the rest of the family." He said with excitement.
Shadow nearly choked on his drink when he'd heard that. It's true he wanted to meet the rest of the boys family. I mean he's heard so many stories about them. How could he not want to. When he was sent here by whatever that ball of light was he didn't know that there were others like him who wanted to save people and fight crime.
Especially humans who had the same goals as him. Most of the humans he met were evil. Except for Maria. He never thought he'd find another like her. Then he met Peter. He reminded him of Maria in so many ways and in many ways he was also different.
Peter showed him that some humans can be trusted. He showed him that not all of them are evil vile creatures. He had forgotten that when he lost Maria but he remembered it when Peter came into his life.
Shadow smiled. "I can't wait to meet them."
Peter and May smiled at him.
The three of them enjoyed their meal together and had small talk. After dinner Peter and Shadow did the dishes and then went upstairs stairs to pack.
As they were packing a thought came to Shadow's mind. "Bambi should we take our suits with us."
"Yeah we should." He said.
"The family's gonna need our help to take down Patriot."
After Packing
Since Aunt May's Apartment is only a two bedroom. Shadow shares Pete's to accommodate for shadow. Aunt may and Peter sold some furniture so they could get a smaller desk and two twin beds so that Shadow didn't have to sleep on the floor anymore.
The look on Shadow's face was worth it. He was very happy. Well if you knew Shadow you would know what he looks like when he's happy. If you don't know him. You'd think that the only emotions he has is anger and stoic. But since Peter is the son of Batman he can tell the difference. Shadow was like an open book to Peter.
Shadow had always wondered how he could read him so well. The only reply he got was " You'll fit in with the family."
Shadow didn't understand what that meant but he was curious about meeting the other members of their family. Shadow froze at that thought. Did he just think that. They were Peter and May's family. Not his he didn't have a family anymore. Even though he wasn't a member of their family. He wanted to be. With all the stories he'd heard about them.
He thought that maybe they could be a family for him too. He already saw Peter as a brother. He didn't know if the boy felt the same. He never told anyone but that was one thing he envied about Sonic. Sonic was always able to make friends and have a family. People like him and loved him.
He was always jealous of how people naturally liked him and were drawn to him. Even though over time he became friends with others in his old life. He never felt like he belonged. But here with Peter and May he felt like he has found a family he could call his own again. This he intended to keep it.
