My Sensei is an Assassin

Chapter 14

Start of the Second semester

NARRATOR'S POV

The scene began inside a classroom where all the students were present.

*Bell rings*

Nagisa entered the classroom and stepped in front of the blackboard.

He said, "Good morning, everyone. I hope your first semester and vacation went well. Now it's time for a new semester and new lessons."

As he turned to write something on the board, a BB gun equipped with a silencer suddenly fired, aimed directly at Nagisa. He intercepted the bullet; using a duster, he blocked it. However, this shot was merely a diversion for his students—Kaminari, Midoriya, Hitoshi, Jiro, and Reiko—to block the possible escape routes, while Ryu, Michiru, Saito, and Tsubaki began firing on the signal.

But before they could pull the trigger, something very unexpected occurred.

Everything around Nagisa slowed down dramatically, as if time itself had stopped for him. To Nagisa, it felt like they were moving at 0.1x speed, with colourful lines outlining their bodies and the surroundings. This phenomenon was actually the result of his quirk.

{Nagisa's [Quirk: Observer's Eye (Awakened)] is an extremely powerful quirk if used cleverly to its full potential. Previously, Nagisa's quirk allowed him to observe any skill or technique in great detail, enabling him to imitate it after some practice. As a result, he learnt highly advanced assassination skills in a fraction of the time compared to his classmates.

After awakening, his quirk is capable of accelerating his thought process, allowing him to perceive events at up to 0.01x speed. The colours he sees indicate different aspects of his quirk: blue outlines living beings, specifically humans and animals; red highlights the weaknesses of his opponents, but only if he knows them well; and green provides possible strategies for defeating them based on his experiences. His eyes capture details that a normal person would miss. Additionally, his body has undergone an evolution, making it so that he can utilise any technique he observes in an instant. Only Karma's quirk stands a chance of rivalling him after this awakening.}

Now, onto the story: for Nagisa, the world seemed to move in slow motion, as if the time itself had paused to highlight the intensity of the moment. His students were frozen in the position to block and fire. As they all blinked, Nagisa seized the moment. With lightning speed, he launched himself off the podium, using it as a makeshift ramp, towards Saito quickly. Before Saito could pull the trigger, Nagisa, using his quick reflexes, with one hand, slid a pen between the trigger and guard, rendering it useless.

Saito, startled, attempted to retreat, but Nagisa was already at close range. In one fluid motion, he pressed his fingers against Saito's pressure points, rendering him unconscious in an instant.

The moment Saito fell, everyone didn't waste any time and started firing. Yet, with uncanny instinct, Nagisa grasped Saito's body and used him as a human shield against the barrage of bullets. He then aimed at Tsubaki, anticipating her evasion. The first shot she dodged, but the second found its mark, striking her head, and eventually she got 'killed'.

Realising that he could not use Saito as a shield as his students began to encircle him, Nagisa shoved Saito towards Kaminari and Shinso, disrupting their footing. As they stumbled, Nagisa quickly removed the silencer from his gun and fired with precision, taking down Ryu and Michiru in rapid succession. His next shot, aimed at Jiro, was amplified by her quirk, which created an ear-splitting sound for her. Eventually she got 'killed' too.

He then used his lightning speed to move towards Reiko, knowing her posture and movements were not that great, but what made her dangerous was her use of a quirk. So, he knocked her out before she could get the chance to use her quirk.

He then approached the two boys, who quickly regained their footing, ready to engage in combat as they took out their knives and guns. Nagisa, scanning the nearby desk, seized two pencils and launched them towards his opponents. They managed to evade the projectiles but were not quick enough to escape Nagisa's rapid advance. In a fluid motion, he snatched the knife from Kaminari's grasp and 'cut' his throat with it, then with a swift flick of his wrist, unleashed a barrage of rounds at Shinso, effectively 'killing' him down.

Lastly, the only one remaining was Izuku Midoriya, whose eyes were filled with determination and bloodlust. Any typical teenager's legs would start to shake with this amount of bloodlust.

Both combatants gripped their knives tightly, their bodies poised in a tense standoff, the air thick with anticipation as they prepared for battle. With fierce determination, Midoriya launched himself forward, aiming a swift slash at Nagisa. In a display of agility, Nagisa ducked just in time, his reflexes sharp, and retaliated with a powerful elbow strike aimed at Midoriya's forearms, seeking to disrupt his attack.

Reacting swiftly, Midoriya retreated slightly, using the moment to recalibrate before striking once more. This time, however, Nagisa was ready; he deftly caught Midoriya's elbow, halting his movement with precision. Seizing the opportunity, Nagisa delivered a sharp knee kick to Midoriya's gut, a blow that struck hard and knocked the wind out of him. With two consecutive punches to the guts and ribs of Midoriya, Nagisa sliced his throat using his knife when he got imbalanced.

This whole assassination attempt didn't even last for a whole minute.

Everyone was in the position they were 'killed' in, making it look like a crime scene. Nagisa went towards the podium and clapped his hands. "Very well, everyone, you did extremely well in this assassination attempt. Now you can stand up." At this cue, all of them started rising from the dead.

Jiro, rubbing her ear, said, "Sensei, you didn't have to fire so close. My ears are hurting so much."

"Yeah, sensei, you also didn't have to kick me hard towards them." Saito complained.

Nagisa joined his hands to apologise and said, "Sorry, Jiro-san. Sorry, Saito-kun. If you or someone else is hurt, please go and see Manami-sensei and Takebayashi-sensei for medical attention."

He continued and said, "I observed all of your coordination, planning and execution, and I have to say they are very much organised and professional. I can say without a doubt that you've improved a lot in the last semester."

"Thank you, Sensei, but what's the meaning if we can't beat you a single time?"

"You are improving, but I am also not slacking. Keeping your target on their toes is an achievement in itself."

He then continued and said, "Can anyone tell why I used the sequence of taking out Saito-kun and Tsubaki-san first and lastly Midoriya-kun?"

Shinso raised his hand, "Because Saito-kun is the best marksman, and Tsubaki-san is the second-best. If you had taken a slight delay, then they would have shot you in the head."

"You're right, Shinso-kun. Then, Midoriya-kun, can you tell me why I chose to attack you at the last?"

Midoriya, in a low voice, said, "Because I was last on your list of worries."

"You're half-right, Midoriya-kun. Yes, you were the least of my worries because, here, where all held long-range weapons, you didn't have one. Your specialisation is in hand-to-hand and knife combat. If this was a hand-to-hand combat assassination attempt, I would have taken you out first and then other members. So, the lesson is priorities change based on the weapons and skills enemies have. Sometimes, bare hands can be far more deadlier than weapons."

"OK, sensei. By the way, I think I figured out your quirk." Everyone was shocked.

"Oh? Can you tell us then?" Nagisa said in a teasing tone.

Midoriya replied, "I think it's something like an observation quirk."

Nagisa smiled and gave him an encouraging smile and said, "Well, you're right on the mark, Midoriya-kun. My quirk is called [Observer's Eye], which lets me observe anything very clearly."

"Really?" Everyone exclaimed.

"Yes, well done, Midoriya-kun." He announced it to everyone.

"Where are you going to take us, sensei?" Tsubaki said.

"It's a surprise. Now let's begin our class, shall we?"

After the homeroom period, they went to their respective course studies classes.

Hero Course

The morning sun bathed the students on the ground in a warm glow as Sugino and Chiba stood, their presence instantly drawing the attention of the students.

"Good morning, students." They greeted.

"Good morning, sensei!" the students replied in unison, their voices echoing the anticipation buzzing in the air.

Sugino stood confidently on the ground, a smile creasing his face. "As we embark on this new semester, our primary focus will be on enhancing your Quirk training," he announced, his tone firm yet encouraging. The students nodded, their expressions reflecting a mix of excitement and determination. Sugino continued, "To aid in this endeavour, we have brought in some additional instructors to assist with your training."

As if on cue, a group of teachers stepped into view, each exuding a unique energy. Hiroto Maehara, Karma, Nagisa, and Kirara.

Nagisa stepped forward, his voice steady as he clarified the day's agenda. "Kaminari-kun, Hiroto-kun will mentor you in your training. Kirara-san will guide Jiro-san and Reiko-san, while Shinso-kun and Midoriya-kun will be under the guidance of Karma and me. Today, we will simply observe how you utilise your quirks. Tomorrow, however, we will engage in hands-on training aimed at amplifying your abilities."

With the plan set, the students began showcasing their quirks one by one, eager to demonstrate their distinct quirks.

Kaminari initiated the display, channelling a surge of electricity that coursed from his fingertips. Unfortunately, the discharge scattered unpredictably in random directions, crackling perilously close to Nagisa and the other students. Sensing the potential chaos, Maehara quickly redirected the erratic energy away from them. He then threw several metal balls towards Kaminari, who quickly caught them and instinctively understood his mentor's intent. With determination, he infused the balls with his electricity before launching them with such impressive force that the ball made a crater in the rock it hit.

{Kaminari's [Quirk: Electrification] allows him to store electricity and discharge it, allowing him to cover his body in it. While he can also discharge this energy over a distance, Denki has little to no control over it, meaning it will go everywhere indiscriminately. Exceeding his wattage limit causes his brain to short-circuit, leaving him in a vulnerable state for 1 hour.}

"Using your electricity, you can significantly increase the kinetic energy of any conductive object," Maehara remarked thoughtfully. "It's clear that your control over the electricity you discharge will require lots of time and practice. Learning to aim those projectiles is a more manageable skill to start with."

{Maehara's [Quirk: Electrokinesis (Awakened)] allows him to control the flow and direction of electricity, no matter the amount. If there is even a slight amount of electricity or even the ionised particles present, he can combine them into one single attack.

He is the one who was teaching Kaminari how to use his quirk without putting others and himself in danger. Whenever he discharges himself or uses his quirk, Maehara always makes sure to create a safe environment for training to avoid any accidents. Maehara is also the one who regularly checks the power supply of the base to avoid any accidents.}

Next, it was Jiro's turn. She confidently plugged her earlobe jacks into the ground, closing her eyes to concentrate fully on the vibrations around her. Jiro's quirk to sense even the slightest disturbances in the environment made her a valuable asset in reconnaissance missions. She then focused and channelled the vibrations, creating a huge shock wave that reverberated through the ground.

{Jiro's [Quirk: Earphone Jack] is that she has a pair of headphone jacks hanging from her earlobes. When the jacks are plugged into something, Kyoka can channel the sound of her heartbeat through them in the form of a violent vibration attack. She can stretch her earlobes several metres. This Quirk also allows her to hear minuscule sounds and vibrations from her surroundings.}

Reiko was up next. She gracefully levitated a collection of small rocks, commanding them to orbit around her with effortless precision. With a flick of her wrist, she sent them hurtling through the air as makeshift projectiles, showcasing her control and dexterity.

{Reiko's [Quirk: Poltergeist] allows her to control nearby objects telekinetically. The weight limit of her Quirk is roughly the weight of the average human.}

Shinso, whose quirk worked on a mental level, and Midoriya, who was quirkless, opted to sit this round out, sensing that their time would come soon enough.

Nagisa addressed the group once more, his voice filled with satisfaction. "We all observed and analysed your quirks today. Tomorrow, we will delve into various methods of utilising them effectively. From tomorrow onwards, your combat training starts."

All the teachers were committed to elevating the students' learning experience. Karma organised physical live classes more frequently, pushing everyone to engage dynamically. Isogai intensified weapon and combat training, while Rio and Yukiko introduced them to renowned literary works. Manami and Takebayashi expanded both theoretical and practical lessons, and Hinata introduced advanced parkour techniques to round out their physical training.

In summary, this new semester is a literal hell for them.

(Timeskip: Next Day)

"So, are you all ready?" Nagisa asked them.

Everyone nodded and went along with their instructors.

With Kaminari and Maehara

"So, what should we do for training other than projectile throw?" Kaminari asked Maehara.

"Chiba and Isogai had already increased your aiming. For other quirks, I have some ideas. Wanna hear?"

"Yeah, sure."

"You use your quirk as a long-range attack, right?" To which Kaminari nodded. "Then why not use them as defensive and offensive means?"

Kaminari got confused. "I didn't understand."

"What I mean to say is that your aiming and channelling of electricity is very bad. So rather than channelling pure electricity as long-range attacks, use it as a defensive means by covering your body parts with it."

"You mean like making a lightning gauntlet around my arms or putting armour on me?"

"Yeah, something like that. It will consume your electricity very rapidly, so try to concentrate your electricity on the palms first."

He then conjured a bit of electricity on his palms.

"Now try to cover electricity around your whole wrist like a glove."

Kaminari tried covering his palm, but before he could cover his entire palm, electricity discharged around his arm, but Maehara stopped it from discharging further. Covering the whole hand is no easy task, as it takes controlled release of electricity and precise flow of it at the same time.

"Don't worry; no one can perfect anything on their first try. Try doing it one more time."

Kaminari heeded his advice and again tried and tried until he could no longer feel his palm.

With Kirara, Reiko, and Jiro

"Jiro, you use your quirk by injecting the plug into the ground or wall, right?"

"Yes, sensei. I use them to hear and send vibrational shock waves." Jiro responded.

"Your quirk is very good. It has lots of potential in espionage, rescue, medical, etc., fields. But there is a huge drawback too. Wanna hear?"

She nodded.

"While you try to hear, you get extremely vulnerable to sudden loud sounds. For example, if you are trying to hear through the ground, but a bomb blast suddenly goes off nearby, it could severely affect and damage your ears and possibly render you unable to use your quirk temporarily."

"Sensei, what should I do, then?"

"Itona is working on something to counter this problem. He said it would be ready to use in a day with a support item too. But until it is in development, try to train your lobes in piercing very hard things like concrete and rocks."

"OK, sensei." As Jiro said that, she went to practise.

"Now, Reiko, for your part, I will be training you in your telekinetic quirk. First is your projectile throw practice."

With Nagisa, Karma, Shinso, and Midoriya

"Well, Isogai is already teaching you martial arts combat, so there is not much to train you," Karma said.

"However, we can work on refining your combat skills and strategising in different scenarios to enhance your overall performance. Let's focus on honing your strengths and addressing any weaknesses that may arise during battles." Nagisa suggested.

(Timeskip: 5 PM, dorms)

"Ugh, today was one hell of a day. Continuous classes with advanced topics." Kaminari complained.

"I can relate to that," Saito said.

"Our course studies are hell, too," Michiru said.

Ryu and Michiru started living in the dorms at the start of this semester. Seemingly, Ryu's dad was glad that Ryu started making new friends and opened up to them, so he decided to let Ryu spend this semester with his friends. Ryu was glad for this decision. Michiru also convinced her parents to let her live in the dorms.

"Hey, but because of all this schoolwork, don't forget our plan to hang out with Uraraka and her friends on Sunday, okay?" Tsubaki said.

"We won't forget that."

(Timeskip: Sunday Morning)

Boys were in their rooms, the scent of fresh laundry filling the air as they changed into their casual clothes, gearing up for a group hangout together.

Saito, with a playful grin on his face, turned to Kaminari, who was putting on his shirt. "So, Kaminari, what's the status of you and Jiro?" He asked, curiosity gleaming in his eyes.

Caught off guard, Kaminari looked up, his expression shifting from concentration to surprise. "Dude, don't drop questions like that out of nowhere!" he exclaimed, a hint of laughter in his voice.

Saito chuckled, finding joy in his friend's flustered reaction. "Alright, alright, but seriously, what's going on?"

Kaminari relaxed slightly, shrugging with nonchalance. "Things are going smoothly for us. We're planning to go out for dinner next week." He then shot a curious glance back at Saito. "What about you and Tsubaki?"

Saito, clearly prepared, grinned wider. "Ours is also going well; in fact, we saw a movie together on Friday evening."

Kaminari's eyes widened in disbelief. "What? Why didn't I hear about that?"

Saito gestured dramatically. "Because you crashed as soon as you got back! You didn't even join us for dinner—we tried to wake you up, but you were completely out. We just let you sleep until morning. Everyone's been talking about our movie night."

"I was just really exhausted from that quirk training," he admitted.

Meanwhile, in another part of the dorm, the girls were also busy preparing for their outing.

"Michiru, you like Ryu-kun, huh?" Tsubaki said casually, a teasing glint in her eye as she adjusted her hair in the mirror.

Caught off guard by the directness of the question, Michiru stammered, "W-what are you t-talking about?" Her cheeks flushed with a mix of surprise and embarrassment.

"Oh, come on! We've known about it from the start. And being here in the dorms only solidified it," Jiro interjected, leaning against the doorframe with a smirk.

"Was t-that really that obvious?" Michiru asked, her voice small as she searched their faces for reassurance.

"Very obvious," Tsubaki and Jiro replied in unison, their tone playful yet sincere.

"Then why hasn't Ryu-kun recognised it? Does he not like me?" Michiru's voice took on a sorrowful tone, her heart sinking.

"I don't think he doesn't like you," Jiro said soothingly. "He seems calm whenever you are around; I've noticed his heartbeat pick up when you two are together." His eyes softened as he watched Michiru.

"Maybe he's just oblivious to his feelings," Tsubaki suggested, trying to inject some lightness into the conversation. "Just give him some time. He'll come around." Michiru nodded, a flicker of hope igniting within her.

After about ten minutes, the group assembled in the common room, buzzing with excitement and chatter, each of them dressed in vibrant outfits. They made their way to the bus stop, ready to head to the mall. Uraraka and her friends boarded a different bus on the other side of town, their laughter and energy merging into the evening air.

(Mall)

Midoriya and his friends arrived at the vibrant entrance of the sprawling mall, their anticipation buzzing in the air as they awaited Uraraka and her friends. The sounds of laughter and chatter enveloped them, creating an atmosphere of excitement.

"Hey! Everyone! We're here!" A cheerful voice called out, pulling Midoriya's attention.

Turning around, he spotted Uraraka, her bright smile illuminating her features, accompanied by Kyoya, Mio, and Ryo, all dressed casually yet stylishly, ready for a fun day ahead.

"Sorry for keeping you waiting," Uraraka said, her cheeks slightly flushed, offering an apologetic grin.

"Oh! No need to apologise. We just arrived ourselves," Midoriya replied, relief washing over him at the sight of her.

Together, the group entered the bustling mall, the aroma of delicious food and the hum of excited shoppers filling their senses, amplifying their eagerness for a day filled with shopping and laughter.

"So, what should we do until the movie starts?" Saito asked, looking around at the multitude of options.

The girls animatedly chimed in, "We want to go shopping! What about you?"

"I think we should check out the arcade games available here," suggested Shinso.

"That sounds good; let's try VR first!" Kaminari added enthusiastically.

With an air of camaraderie, the group divided up, the girls heading towards the colourful clothing stores, while the boys made their way to the dynamic VR centre.

As the boys settled into their gaming escapade, they immersed themselves in various virtual experiences. Afterwards, they flocked to the arcade machines, where Ryo Tanaka and Kyoya showcased their exceptional skills. The sounds of joyful cheers and the clinking of tokens echoed as they cleared the arcade, their competitive spirits igniting their fun.

"Wow, Aburame-san, Tanaka-san, you guys are pretty amazing at these games!" Midoriya exclaimed, genuine admiration in his voice.

"We should say that to you! You're really skilled too!" Kyoya responded, a hint of admiration reflected in his expression.

"Well, our school's in the mountains, where they prioritise physical training, which probably helps," Midoriya answered, a touch of pride in his tone.

"Our school also emphasises a balance of academics and physical discipline, including martial arts and self-defence training," Kyoya added, a gleam of determination in his eyes.

"Uraraka-san would likely excel at that as well, right?" he mused.

"Definitely! She's pursuing her dream of becoming a rescue hero, so she's taken emergency rescue and self-defence classes. She just needs a bit more practice in self-defence," Kyoya explained, a smile hinting at his admiration for Uraraka's ambitions.

After a thrilling gaming session, they reunited with the girls. Upon seeing them, the boys' eyes widened in surprise—each girl held no more than a single bag in hand, a stark contrast to the expected 3 or 4.

"What are you so surprised about?" Mio asked, arching an eyebrow, her tone playful.

"N-nothing! It's just… we thought there'd be more bags," Kyoya stammered, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.

"This isn't everything we bought! We decided to save some shopping for after the movie," Mio clarified with a mischievous grin.

"Did you all enjoy your gaming?" Tsubaki enquired, her tone curious.

"Yeah! Except for one minor detail: we cleared out half of their prizes," Kyoya said sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. "But we had a blast!"

"So, we're not the only ones who indulged! What did you do with the prizes?" Uraraka asked.

"We sold most of them back to the arcade, keeping just a few for fun," Kyoya admitted, shrugging casually.

"Then let's head to the movie!" Uraraka announced, her enthusiasm infectious.

"Sounds perfect to me!" they all chimed in unison.

The group made their way to the movie theatre, the flickering lights and vibrant posters setting the stage for their cinematic adventure. After three hours of engrossing storytelling, they emerged with a mix of opinions.

"The movie was good, but honestly, it felt a bit too long. They could've trimmed some unnecessary scenes," Tsubaki remarked, her brow furrowed in contemplation.

"I liked it, though! It had some great moments," Kaminari responded, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Me too," Saito and Michiru echoed, their smiles wide.

"I agree with Tsubaki-san, but that's just my perspective," Kyoya added, appreciating the differing opinions.

They shared their insights and experiences, rehashing their favourite parts of the film. The girls then ventured back to the stores, returning with three bags each—save for Uraraka, who clutched a solitary bag, her expression a mix of satisfaction and cheer.

Before heading home, the entire group gathered at a cosy restaurant, sharing snacks, laughter, and stories, savouring the delightful end of their fun-filled day together.

(Somewhere else)

In a dark room illuminated only by the light from the TV, two silhouettes sat watching Midoriya and his friends eating in a restaurant. A third silhouette could be seen standing away from them.

"So, these are his students, huh?" asked the first silhouette, who was sitting at a desk.

"Yes, these are his students. You remember the deal, right?" replied the second silhouette.

"I know, I know. You want to kill this man alongside those 3E students and teachers," he said, pointing at the picture, showing Nagisa and his friends and teachers as well as a mysterious man on the desk. "But because they are very dangerous, you need my help."

The 2nd person slightly chuckled, "Don't think too highly of yourself. We only need you because you're the only one alive who knows and can help us in exploiting their weakness."

"Doesn't that make me all the more important?"

"You had already told us his weakness; we also had arranged many others who can exploit it. You're here because of the deal, and I tend to keep my word."

"OK, OK, I was just joking. These kids will lure both of our targets. We can kill that wretched blue-haired demon and his friends one by one with this plan."

"Remember this: if I fail to kill this man and these 3E because of you, you will only beg to make the official status of you real. Understood, Akira Takaoka?" The 2nd person said that threateningly by placing his face just a short distance away. He then backed away and said, "Come on, No. 44, let's go." He then left with the person who was standing near the door.

After they left, the first person slammed his hand on the table, and the table broke. "These brats always try to get under my skin. First those brats from that school, and now this." He then calmed down. "Anyway, I can finally kill those brats for my humiliation and this man…" A sinister smile formed across his face. 'After both of them are gone, I will kill these two brats too.' "HeheHAHAHA."

Akira Takaoka, a man hated by everyone and loved by none, not even his colleagues nor students he tortured in the army in the name of teaching, just to prove that he was better than Karasuma. After he was arrested for embezzling government funds to kill Karasuma and his students in Okinawa, he was transferred to jail for psychopaths and mentally unstable criminals. Two years before the start of this story, an accidental gas blast occurred in that jail, killing several inmates, including him. Well, at least officially. No one knows how he survived or faked his death.
