(AN) Hello and welcome to the penultimate chapter of Straw Dogs: Reimagined; hope you all enjoy.

The last chapter ended with Tom and the others deciding to murder the Sumners after David and Amy witnessed Tom accidentally killing Sergeant Scott. So yeah, this will be a slightly different take on the climax.

Disclaimer: I don't own Straw Dogs; all characters and locations are owned by their respective owners.

Chapter Seven

Bobby and Charlie quickly came to stand in front of the rest of the group as they began walking back towards the house.

"Come on, Dad, this has gone far enough!" pleaded Bobby. "You going to kill Karen as well, or just leave her as an orphan!"

"We'll deal with her later!" spat Tom. "This is for Janice!"

"Yeah, but this is taking it too far." pointed out Charlie.

"If you don't want to help, then run off!" snapped Tom.

Bobby quickly ran off.

David and Amy watched on in fear as the men marched back towards the house.

David was highly tempted to hide himself and Amy in Karen's bedroom with Karen and Henry and see if that would work, but something within him told him that he needed to take responsibility: this was his house and he had to defend it, Amy and Henry.

The maths teacher began moving about the downstairs area and turning off all the lights; Amy following close behind. "David, what on Earth do you think you're doing!" she hissed.

"Making it dark so they can't see us," explained David as he turned the last light off. "I've got no other choice; I've got to fend them off, or else we'll all be killed. You go hide upstairs in the bedroom."

"There are six men out there!" pointed out a terrified Amy.

"I know that!" replied David nervously.

"One of them has a gun!" hissed Amy. "You don't stand a chance on your own, so there's no way I'm leaving you to take them on by yourself."

"Amy, please do as I ask!" begged David, "This way, I can protect you this time!"

"So, that's what this is all about." said Amy quietly. "David, I know you feel guilty about what happened, but it's not your fault. Being a true man means admitting when you're not okay and being there for me, which you have been."

Amy stopped and flinched at the sound of Tom yelling, which was followed by breaking glass. "So, let me help you." she said firmly.

"Okay." muttered David quietly.

While David and Amy began preparing to fight back, Chris was riding around on his bike; tooting the horn and laughing like an idiot.

"Norman, Chris, where are ya?" called out Charlie as he came to stand by the side of the house.

Quite suddenly, Chris ran straight into Charlie, knocking the pair of them over, but Cawsey only laughed harder.

"You damn rat catcher!" snapped Charlie angrily as he sprang to his feet, grabbed the bike and began chasing Cawsey with it, "I'll wrap this bike round your neck!"

Suddenly, two large water balloons came from above and struck Cawsey and Charlie, causing them to stop and yelp in alarm. The duo looked up and saw Karen hanging out her bedroom window; a mischievous grin on her face. "Want some more!" she smirked.

"You're a dead brat!" seethed Cawsey, shaking his fist angrily.

"Come on, Karen, it's not polite to help your parents hide people." said Charlie.

"But you're trying to hurt Henry and that's not very nice." retorted Karen before disappearing from the window.

Tom was currently still pounding on the front door. "LET ME IN!" he hollered furiously, "YOU'RE BOTH DEAD!"

"Hey, Uncle Tom, let me try." suggested Charlie as he came to stand next to the middle-aged man. Charlie then gently knocked on the front door, "Amy? Amy, I know you can hear me. Your husband is just going to get you hurt. Just surrender Niles and we won't hurt you."

Inside the living room, David and Amy were laying the bear trap on the stairs; all the while listening to Charlie's voice.

"Hang on, maybe I can reason with him." said Amy before noticing the worried look on David's face. "Don't worry, I'm not going to open the door; I'll just try and talk to him."

"Okay, but be careful." warned the maths professor.

Amy walked over to the front door. "Charlie," she called out. "Charlie, I'll only let you in if you and the others promise not to hurt Niles or me and David."

"I can't do that, Amy," came Charlie's reply. "Niles did something to Janice and David saw Tom kill the sergeant; Tom, Scutt, Cawsey and Bertie won't listen. Just surrender Niles and we can end this."

"You think I'd help you after what you put me through!" snapped the disgusted blonde. "I won't let you or the others hurt David and Henry. David knows that the sergeant's death was an accident; we can tell the police that. And then you and Scutt can admit to raping me if you're as noble as you and the others claim to be."

"I-I can't!" uttered Charlie. "Scutt's my friend, and I can't stop him and the others from killing you!"

Outside, Cawsey came across an open window. Upon peering through the window, he could see Amy's back turned to the window. "Normy, Phil, over here!" he hollered.

After a few moments, Scutt and Phil came to join their friend by the window.

"Ya think ya can get in there?" asked Chris to Norman.

"I can try." answered Norman, grinning wickedly.

"Get in there, take care of the Sumners and unlock the door for us," ordered Phil. "Then we'll drag Niles outside and kill him together."

The others nodded in understanding.

"Mrs Sumner, I've got something for you; look." snickered Cawsey as he poked his head through the window before throwing a rat towards Amy.

The rat landed on the middle-aged woman's feet, causing her to scream in fright, which made Cawsey laugh.

"GET OUT!" shouted Amy before picking up a book and throwing it at Cawsey, who simply continued to laugh as he fell backwards.

The blonde watched as the rat scurried into the hallway. Amy ran over to a drawer and began rummaging through it before pulling out some sellotape. The young woman ran over to the window as Scutt began trying to crawl through, only for Amy to slam the window shut; trapping his head.

"Give me your hands!" hissed Amy.

Scutt held his hands out and cried in alarm as Amy wrapped the sellotape round his wrists.

"This was none of my doing, Mrs Sumner!" begged Scutt nervously. "Venner forced me into it; I never meant to assault you."

"Shut up!" spat Amy.

After finishing, the young woman stepped back and smirked at Scutt before exiting the room.

"HELP ME!" shouted a terrified Scutt in a high-pitched voice. "HELP ME!"

Cawsey came over, opened the window, causing Scutt to stagger away from the window. Cawsey then ripped the tape off, causing Scutt to yelp in alarm.

Charlie walked over to the kitchen window and saw that it was open. The young man approached the open window and could briefly make out David just standing there. "TOM!" he called out.

The middle-aged drunk came hobbling over to the window. Charlie pulled out a lighter and match, he then struck the match and tossed it through the window, causing a fire to spring up almost instantly.

David and Amy quickly pushed the dining room table in front of the window before propping it up on to its side. The couple leapt back as Tom fired a round through the table. The young couple then ran back out of the dining room.

"Come out now, or I'll blow you to pieces!" threatened Tom.

"Okay." replied David as he and Amy reentered; both holding pots filled with boiling hot oil.

As soon as Charlie and Tom appeared at the window, the couple splashed the pots of hot oil in the two men's faces.

Tom and Charlie yelled in pain while staggering backwards.

Inside the kitchen, David and Amy used cold water to cool the oil down.

The couple raced through to the dining room and quickly put the fire out.

"Do you think they'll leave now?" asked Amy nervously.

David listened and could hear Tom and the others talking about how they could get in. "Nope." he answered nervously.

"They'll just never give up." remarked a frightened Amy. "What do we do?"

"I've got one more trick that might work." stated the dark haired man.

The young couple walked back through to the living room. The maths teacher walked over to the stereo and turned it on. Frosty the Snowman by the Ronettes began playing.

Outside, the ears of the seven men pricked up at the sound of the music.

"He's playin' music." remarked an astonished Tom.

"Let's finish this." declared a determined Charlie.

While Tom, Phil, Cawsey and Charlie approached the living room window, Scutt headed towards the garage, while Bertie went round to the back.

Back inside the living room, David grabbed the fireplace poker before running over to the open window and pressing himself up against the wall beside it.

Tom climbed through, armed with a shotgun. As Tom hung his legs out to jump on to the floor, the maths expert suddenly whacked the barrel of the gun with the poker, causing it to bend down and aim more towards Tom's foot. The local drunk, startled by this, pulled the trigger and shot himself in the foot. Tom yelled out in pain as he looked down at his injured foot. At the same time, Amy yelped in shock.

"I've got ya, Tom!" came Phil's voice as he came over and grabbed Tom before dragging him out of the window. At the same time, a shocked David stepped back from the window.

Phil then suddenly dropped Tom, who winded himself as he hit the ground.

"What's the matter, Tom?" asked Phil as he looked down at his friend.

Tom couldn't answer due to being winded.

Inside the living room, David quickly dropped the poker, grabbed Tom's gun and came to stand a short distance away from the window. Hands shaking, the young man raised the gun as Phil began making his way through the window; a murderous look in his eyes. "You're dead!" he snapped. "I'll kill ya!"

"Don't come in!" warned David in a voice quivering with fear, keeping the gun trained on Phil. "I said don't come in here!"

David pulled the trigger a couple of times and was thankful when nothing came out. Phil laughed before jumping down from the windowsill. David dropped the gun and grabbed a Christmas stocking that he'd filled with lumps of coal, the young man charged towards Phil as he too charged towards him. David whacked Phil over the head, knocking the drunk to the floor, he then struck him again when he tried to get back up. David bent down and felt for a pulse; heaving a sigh of relief when he did feel one.

David turned his head as he heard the living room light being switched on.

David whirled around and saw Chris standing there, grinning wickedly. "Good evenin', Mr Sumner!" he sneered as he tipped his hat.

Chris then pulled a large jet injector out of his pocket before throwing the hat aside and wielding the injector like a sword.

David held the stocking up as he and Chris slowly edged closer to each other. Chris threw the injector at David, who quickly ducked, causing the injector to become lodged into the wall. David charged at Chris, who quickly punched the dark haired man in the face, causing him to fall over and drop his weapon.

Amy quickly ran over and grabbed the stocking before whirling round to face the rat catcher, who pulled out a smaller jet injector.

"Come on!" taunted Chris as he continued to back away from an advancing Amy; both briefly lunging out at each other. "Come on!"

Suddenly, Amy swung the stocking and knocked the injector out of Chris' hand, she then swung the weapon at the rat catcher, who fell to the floor, he tried to get back up, but the blonde struck him again, flooring him completely, the young woman seemed to briefly loose herself to adrenaline as she struck the man three more times, Amy snapped out of her trance and looked down in shock at Chris' lifeless body, causing her to drop the stocking.

The young couple turned around as the music suddenly stopped. Charlie was standing in the doorway. Charlie picked up Tom's gun and aimed it at the young couple, who clung to each other in fear.

"Gun's empty." informed David as he ran a hand through his hair.

"Is it now?" said Charlie darkly, not believing a word David said.

"Why don't you pull it and show me." suggested David, who now sounded exhausted.

"I've got plenty of time, Mr Sumner." retorted Charlie.

Meanwhile, Janice groaned as she slowly came to. The young woman slowly got to her feet and walked back up the steps. "Henry?" she called out. "Henry?"

As Janice walked through the village, she spotted Kate and Tim outside the Bistro. "Evans; Gallighar!" she called out.

The two DI's turned around and gave Janice looks of surprise.

"Janice!" cried Tim in shock as he and Kate ran over to her. "Where have you been? Everybody's been going out of our minds with worry."

"I-I just went for a walk with Henry," said a bewildered Janice. "Henry got frightened when he heard Dad looking for me and accidentally knocked me down the steps near the village square."

"Oh no." groaned Kate in horror.

"What?" asked a confused Janice.

"Your dad, Bobby, Bertie and his friends learned that David and Amy took Henry up to Trencher's Farm and have gone up there to get the truth out of him." explained Tim.

"What!" cried Janice in shock.

"Janice!" cried Bobby in shock. "Janice!" cried Bobby in shock as he came running over to his sister before giving her a hug. "Thank God you're alright!"

"Are Dad and the others still up at Trencher's Farm?" asked Janice.

"Yes," answered Bobby before turning to the two DI's. "We've got to get up there right now: Sergeant Scott tried to get Dad to stand down, but Dad wouldn't; they struggled with the gun, and now Sergeant Scott is d-dead!"

"Oh my god!" cried Kate in shock.

"And now they're trying to get in and kill Mr and Mrs Sumner and Henry." said Bobby.

"Right, I'll call for backup," said Tim to Kate. "You take Bobby and Janice up there: maybe they can get their dad to stand down."

Kate nodded in understanding.

Back at Trencher's Farm, David and Amy were still being held at gunpoint by Charlie.

"Charlie, this has to stop!" pleaded Amy in a terrified manner. "All this violence won't help us learn what's happened to Janice!"

"Amy's right!" agreed David. "We don't want anybody else to get hurt, so just leave with your surviving friends!"

"Not until Niles is dead!" hissed Charlie in a dangerous manner. "Come on, Amy; let me take care of Niles and I'll convince the others to let you live!"

"I said no!" barked Amy furiously.

The trio suddenly looked up as they heard Karen screaming in fear.

"KAREN!" yelled Amy in fear.

Before Charlie could stop her, the young blonde raced up the stairs.

In Karen's bedroom, Karen and Henry were slowly backing away from Scutt, who had climbed through the open bedroom window.

"You're dead Niles!" spat Scutt.

The large man charged at Henry and slammed him into the wall, he then wrapped his hands around Henry's throat and began to squeeze. Karen ran over and bit Scutt in the ankle, making him howl in pain and release his grip on Henry.

"You stinkin' brat!" snarled Scutt as he grabbed the young blonde and tossed her on to the bed.

Amy suddenly charged in and punched the young man in the face, but this didn't do too much. "You stay away from them!" she cried in horror.

"Mmmmm, I can think of something better to do than killing your daughter!" leered Scutt as he suddenly grabbed Amy by the arm.

And with that, Scutt flung the young woman on to his shoulder and exited the room; ignoring the terrified begging and pleading.

Scutt ran into David and Amy's bedroom and threw the terrified blonde on to the bed. Amy tried to get off, but Scutt quickly crawled on top of her.

"NO! NO! GET AWAY FROM ME!" shouted a terrified Amy as Scutt began trying to tear at her clothing.

Amy struggled and fought, but it was no use. Scutt ignored the terrified begging and pleading as he tore a part of her blouse.

David suddenly charged in, followed by Charlie. The maths teacher quickly pulled Scutt off of his wife and punched him in the face. Scutt drew a penknife, while Charlie pulled Tom's gun on his friend.

"Scutt, this wasn't part of the plan!" barked Charlie furiously. "Let's just kill Mr Sumner, then Niles!"

"Hasn't there been enough bloodshed!" snarled Amy. "You think Henry's a monster, but what sort of monster are you turning into, Charlie."

"This has to be done, Amy!" growled Charlie. "The police won't do anything, so we have to look out for each other!"

"What is this, the 1950s!" snapped David. "A woman goes missing and the men act like a bunch of savages!"

The scorned ex snarled like an animal before turning the gun on David. Thinking quickly, Amy leapt up and slammed into Charlie, causing him to crash into a wall and drop the gun. Amy picked up the gun, whirled around and fired it at Scutt, who was charging towards her. Scutt was thrown back into a wall, where he slumped down to the floor, dead.

Amy barely had time to get over the shock when suddenly, Charlie came up from behind and grabbed the gun. David charged over to Charlie and wrestled the gun from the ex's hands before punching him in the face. The young man quickly regained his composure and rugby-tackled David into a wall.

"Why would she want you when she could have me!" snarled Charlie as he violently shook the maths professor.

"LEAVE HIM ALONE!" shouted Amy furiously.

The blonde charged towards Charlie and attempted to pull him away from her husband, only for Charlie to smack her in the face, sending the young blonde to the floor. Charlie dropped David, who sat there, dazed and groaning.

Charlie slowly advanced on Amy, who quickly scrambled to her feet and began slowly backing away. "If I can't have you, then nobody can!" he seethed.

The brunet charged towards his ex and punched her in the face.

The two began exchanging punches and kicks as they entered the hallway. Charlie pushed Amy towards the stairs; the blonde desperately pushing back. Amy quickly grabbed her ex's arm, causing him to loose his balance and both of them to go tumbling down the stairs.

After landing near the last two steps, Charlie punched Amy in the face, flooring her. As Charlie slowly got to his feet, Amy quickly grabbed the bear trap and slammed it on to Charlie's head. The young man tried to take it off, but Amy kept it on before quickly letting go. The young blonde watched on in shock as Charlie staggered before crumpling to the floor and writhing about for a few seconds before moving no more.

Amy looked up and saw a slightly dazed but shocked David standing at the top of the stairs. Karen was standing beside him; a shocked expression was plastered on her face as well. "Amy?" he said quietly.

Amy slowly got to her feet and looked down at Charlie's body in horror. David slowly walked down the stairs before wrapping his arms around his wife in a hug. The blonde began sobbing loudly, while the brunet rubbed her back and made hushing noises.

"It's okay now, Amy." whispered David gently, "It's over."

"I-I killed two people!" stammered a horrified Amy, "I-I know they did terrible things, b-but I-

"I know." assured David gently, "It was self-defence. They would've killed us otherwise. Thankfully, Phil is still alive and hopefully Tom's just injured."

Amy nodded in agreement. "We'd better make sure that Bobby and Bertie aren't still lurking about." she said.

In all the chaos, David had completley forgotten about those two.

The young couple began examining the living room; looking down at Cawsey's dead body. As Amy went to look in the kitchen, David looked down at where Phil had been left, but was shocked to see that he wasn't there. The maths professor was brought out of his thoughts by a terrified scream. The young man whirled around and saw Bertie pushing a terrified Amy into the living room before forcing the woman on to her knees. Phil then entered the living room, his arm wrapped around Karen's neck.

"Get on your knees, Mr Sumner!" ordered Bobby; a furious look on his face.

David slowly raised his hands before going into a kneeling possition.

"Please, don't kill us!" begged Amy in a terrified manner. "You won't get away with it!"

"This is justice!" stated Phil firmly, "Niles must die and you two will blab about Tom killing the sergeant!"

"We won't tell a soul; we swear!" pleaded David in a voice quivering with fear. "Please, don't do this to Karen!"

"Too late!" seethed Bertie.

Bobby then pulled out a kitchen knife and came towards Amy when suddenly, the back door burst open and Tim and Kate burst in; guns drawn.

"Police; drop the knife!" barked Kate in a commanding tone of voice.

Bertiedropped the knife and slowly raised his hands in surrender along with Phil. The trio went down on their knees, allowing the two detectives to handcuff them.

"Thanks for the rescue." uttered David shakily as he and Amy got to their feet. A shaken Karen ran over and sobbed into Amy's blouse. The young woman wrapped her arms around her precious daughter in a hug.

"I'm sorry we couldn't get here sooner." commented Kate. "Janice is alive: she went for a walk with Henry; he got frightened when he heard Tom and accidentally knocked her out."

"Oh thank God." sighed Amy in relief.

"I've found Dad," said Janice as she and Bobby entered the house. "He's alive, but he's shot himself in the foot."

Janice and Bobby gave Phil and Bertie irritated scowls. Evans turned to face David. "We'll take you all to the hospital to get checked over and get statements."

David nodded in understanding.

As David walked towards the stairs, Amy wondered to herself what would happen next.

(AN) And that's it for this chapter of Breaking Point; hope you all enjoy.

So as you can see, this went very differently: it's always bugged me that Amy never got in on the action and just became really annoying.

In the next and final chapter, we wrap up any loose plot threads.

Until then, this is TimeLordMaster108 signing out.
