A/N: Thanks to all who left reviews and/or read. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but remember this is a Liason story.

Here is the 2nd update for the weekend. May add another tomorrow since this a shorter chapter.

The rating will be M and definitely have some NC-17 elements to it!

Disclaimer: I don't own any of these characters and I am not affiliated with GH, ABC, Disney, or anything else.

Chapter 4

Spencer Home

March 22, 2007

Elizabeth has made it down the aisle as she stands across from Lucky. The boy she fell in love with after her rape, but now, after he came back from the dead and the brainwashing done by Helena, her feelings aren't the same. She has grown past that stage of her life, but a small part of her believes that she owes it to him. Their friends, his family, her Gram have all told her she has an obligation to stick by him and help fix him. She hands her bouquet to her best friend, Emily. Her fingers tremble slightly in Lucky's grasp. Her smile is soft, it doesn't reach her eyes. Her eyes, those blue eyes that usually show her zest for life, are clouded.

The priest begins the ceremony, "dearly beloved, we are gathered her today…" The voice fades into the background.

Elizabeth hears nothing. Just the sound of her own heartbeat. Just the weight of eyes on her – not just from the chairs, but from the back – She turns to look.

Jason is gone. Her chest tightens – like something's just been ripped away from her. Her heart belongs to the man who has left, but can she really have what she truly wants.

Jason had slipped out the door of the house as the priest started the ceremony. He doesn't slam the door. He doesn't look back. He just walks. He closes his eyes for a moment to try and imagine what could have been. The woman he loves, Elizabeth Webber, will truly be out of reach once the ceremony concludes. He can't bear to watch, but he knows this is his fate. He is to be alone because of the choices he made for himself and his life years ago to live in a violent, dangerous world that Elizabeth shouldn't have any part. She is better than that, she deserves better than what he can offer.

He continues to walk. Fast. Quiet. Controlled. But inside, he is shattering.

FLASHBACK

Elizabeth smiling at him while she sketches.

Elizabeth humming while she paints when she thought he was asleep.

Holding her after saving her from Manny Ruiz

Elizabeth whispering, "You're the father…"

Elizabeth, today, looking right at him before taking that first step down the aisle.

FLASHBACK ENDS

Jason exhales hard – tries to shake it off. But his jaw is still tight, his hands clenched. He gets on his bike. He puts the key in the ignition, the engine roars, and just like that –

He's gone.

The guests are still seated watching the ceremony. Nobody but Elizabeth and Emily have noticed that Jason has left. Elizabeth and Lucky stand facing one another.

The priest asks, "does anybody know why this man and this woman should not be joined in holy matrimony?" Nobody says a word.

The priest continues, "Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Jr., do you take this woman as your lawfully married wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"

"I do."

The priest turns to Elizabeth, "Elizabeth Imogene Webber, do you take this man as your lawfully married husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"

Elizabeth looks at Lucky across from her. She turns to look at Emily. She also looks at Audrey. Each of them having a different reaction to her moment of pause, or perhaps, moment of doubt. She turns to look at their friends and family seated in the chairs watching, looking at her, wondering what is going on.

Elizabeth closes her eyes, an inner turmoil battling inside her emotions. In her head, she knows this should be so simple, but the words don't seem to be coming out.

The petite brunette thinks back to just a few moments ago, but seems like hours, to her conversation with Emily upstairs. Emily's words are running through her head about knowing where her heart is. She thinks about her conversation with her Gram. Audrey told her it would be honesty if she put a stop to something that her heart wasn't really into.

Lucky whispers, "Elizabeth."

Elizabeth looks at the man across from her, but it isn't truly the man she wants to be across from her. She knows what she is expected to do, but it isn't what is in her heart. She gave that to the blond enforcer who already left. She knows the scandal it will cause her if she stops the ceremony now. Is she willing to deal with that?

The priest murmurs to her, "Miss Webber?"

Lucky is now frowning at her. His face is starting to show anger and doubt at the same time.

Elizabeth can hear whispers starting to ripple through the crowd like a breeze through leaves from behind her as the invited guests wonder what is going to happen.

"Elizabeth?"

Elizabeth closes her eyes, lifts her head, and with a confidence that she wasn't sure where it came from begins to talk.

"I….."

A/N – I know this chapter is shorter, but I really wanted to end on the cliffhanger. I know, I know, but I couldn't resist.
