As the days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into years, I began contemplating the reality of my situation.
... and that left me with a question, a question of which I did not know the answer to.Which world... and more importantly, which reality do I want to be in?
Allas, this was no Neverland, and in time, the gang did grow up... just at a slower pace, it seemed.
The years went by in a blur, and 1965 Tulsa, Oklahoma soon morphed into 2025.
One day, while I was on my bed, home alone, with nothing to do, I googled the age difference between 1965 and 2025, with it coming out to be 60 years.
With Ponyboy's age being 74. Darrel at age 80, Soda, Johnny, and I all set at age 76, Steve age 77, Two-Bit age 78 and a half, Dallas age 77, Emily aged at 76, and Anna aged at 75.
With Darry's permission, Pony made a surprisingly brave attempt to propose to me at age 21, I was 26 then.
Since then, a lot has changed. Ponyboy and I are now married with two very rambunctious and inquisitive children.
"Mama...?" the 3-year-old tugged on my arm.
"Yes, Jr, what is it?"
"Can I?" he pointed to the bundle in my arms.
"You wanna hold the baby?"
Ne nodded, arms outstretched.
"Very well..." I sighed. "Just be very, very careful." he nodded once more.
"I will, Mama."
I smiled as I gently surrendered the bundle over to the three-year-old.
"Adelaide," I whispered into his ear. "Her name is Adelaide."
I stood. Watching and observing, making sure that everything was going right. "Cup your hands," I said, guiding his hands where they needed to be.
