Aoi Hyoudou: I am extremely happy with the feedback provided. Thank you so much for your assistance. Each battle won't be a full six-on-six and it could be either one-on-one or three-on-three, depending on the situation. The goal is to avoid dragging on chapters if one character has a low chance of defeating their opponent. However, the battles will still be made as competitive as possible. Also, note that another Elite Corp member will fail, be warned!
Chapter XVI
Clash! Dragon Master Iris Vs Majestic Lotus Sarah!
~(...)~
"Mienshao! Strike them with Acrobatics!" Sarah commanded.
BAM
Sarah's Mienshao moved with a dancer's grace, its body outlined in a white blur as it executed the Acrobatics move with remarkable speed. The strikes landed with precision, each hit sending shockwaves through the herd of Paradox Donphans. The agile Fighting-type Pokémon weaved through the confusion with finesse, delivering powerful blows that left the Donphans staggering.
As the ripples of impact reverberated through the herd, Sarah seized the moment to capitalize on the chaos. "Mienshao, follow up with a Swift! Target the ones that are struggling to regain their footing!"
POW
With a swift motion, Mienshao unleashed a barrage of stars that homed in on the disoriented Paradox Donphans. The Swift attack hit its mark, further disrupting the herd's formation. The combination of Acrobatics and Swift created a dynamic and strategic assault, leaving the Paradox Donphans struggling to mount a coordinated defense.
With the Paradox Donphans still reeling from Sarah's Mienshao's assault, Cutlass took advantage of the opportunity to strike with her Gallade. The agile Psychic/Fighting-type Pokémon stood ready, responding to Cutlass's command.
"Sword Dance, Gallade!" Cutlass called out. Gallade's body became surrounded by mysterious energy as it performed an elegant and powerful Sword Dance. The increased focus and heightened energy were evident in Gallade's stance, signaling the impending strength of its next move.
"Now, follow up with Psycho Cut!" Cutlass commanded with determination.
Gallade, fueled by the power of Sword Dance, unleashed a swift and razor-sharp Psycho Cut. The psychic energy formed into a glowing blade that sliced through the air with precision, aiming directly at the most formidable member of the Paradox Donphan herd—the one that seemed to be leading the charge.
POW
The Psycho Cut struck with formidable force, dealing a significant blow to the leader of the Paradox Donphans. The impact caused the Donphan to stagger, disrupting its attempts to rally the herd. The combination of Sword Dance and Psycho Cut showcased Gallade's prowess in both martial arts and psychic abilities.
The synergy between Cutlass and Sarah reached a climax as they synchronized their commands. "Aura Sphere!" they exclaimed in unison.
Both Gallade and Mienshao, attuned to their Trainers' intentions, gathered energy between their hands, forming powerful spheres of aura. The spheres glowed with an intense, otherworldly light, reflecting the combined strength of the Psychic- and Fighting-type moves.
BAM
With a coordinated effort, Gallade and Mienshao unleashed the Aura Spheres simultaneously. The spheres streaked through the air, homing in on specific targets within the Paradox Donphan herd. The precision of the attacks and the overwhelming force of the Aura Spheres left a trail of impact, causing a cascade of disruption among the Donphans.
Cutlass and Sarah, sensing an opportune moment with the Paradox Donphans weakened by the relentless onslaught, simultaneously aimed their hand cannons. The handheld devices, pulsating with energy, were formidable tools capable of delivering powerful finishing blows or, in this case, turning their targets into stone. The hand cannons unleashed a volley of energy projectiles that streaked towards the remaining Paradox Donphans. The energy shots collided with the already weakened Pokémon, enveloping them in a shimmering glow. One by one, the Paradox Donphans succumbed to the transformative effect. The once-aggressive herd now stood frozen in stone, their forms preserved in a state of petrification.
Ash approached his team with a proud smile, commending them on their successful catch. "Nicely done!" he exclaimed, expressing his satisfaction with their performance.
"Why thank you, Leader!" Sarah beamed with pride as she returned her exhausted Mienshao back to its Poké Ball for a well-deserved rest.
After returning her Gallade to its Poké Ball, Cutlass couldn't help but feel like the capture was too easy. "It was nothing," she said, brushing off her success. Instead, she was more interested in the message Ash had received from one of their grunts earlier. "So, is it good news or more bad news as usual?" she asked, her frown deepening.
Ash released a deep sigh as Cutlass wasted no time in getting down to business. The news of Anabel and the Pokémon Champions approaching their location was troubling. "We must act fast and capture all the remaining Paradox Pokémon in Area Zero before Anabel and the Pokémon Champions intervene," he said with urgency.
Cutlass appeared to be in agreement, but her expression quickly turned to a frown as she realized what they were planning to do with the fossilized Donphans. It was clear that leaving their capture behind was not an option. "What are we going to do with these?" she asked, gesturing towards the Paradox Donphans.
Ash paused, acknowledging Cutlass's concern. He looked at the fossilized Paradox Donphans with a thoughtful expression. "You're right, Cutlass. We can't just leave them here." He weighed his options, considering the possibility of leaving someone behind to keep an eye on their capture and greet any unwelcome visitors while the rest of the team ventured further into Area Zero.
Sarah took notice that her leader was unable to make a decision on their next plan of action. Without hesitation, she stepped forward and bravely volunteered to stay behind. "I'll stay," she declared with confidence.
Ash looked at Sarah, grateful for her willingness to take on the responsibility. "Are you sure, Sarah? It might get risky here, and we don't know what we're dealing with. I don't want you to be in any danger."
"Don't worry, Leader. I'll take care of the fossilized Donphans and make sure they're safe," Sarah said with a smile. "Plus, I'm excited to challenge the Champions and see how strong they've become. It's going to be a great battle!"
Cutlass raised an eyebrow, her stern expression not relenting. "Overconfidence can be dangerous, Sarah. The Pokémon Champions are among the best Trainers out there. They've earned their titles for a reason. It's not about underestimating yourself, but understanding the caliber of those you might face."
Sarah chuckled, a hint of sass in her tone. "I get it, Cutlass. But hey, a little confidence isn't a bad thing. I'll be careful, promise."
Cutlass sighed, realizing she couldn't change Sarah's mind. "Just don't let that confidence turn into recklessness."
Ash let out an exasperated sigh, "Come on, Cutlass. We don't have time to argue," he said. Cutlass sighed in response but eventually relented and dropped the topic. He turned to his Elite and gave a stern look, "Watch your back and if things start to go south, regroup with us. Got it?"
Sarah saluted playfully. "Yes, sir! I'll be on my guard and ready for anything. You two focus on capturing those Paradox Pokémon." With a final nod, Ash and Cutlass resumed their journey deeper into Area Zero, leaving Sarah to keep watch over the fossilized Donphans and brace herself for potential confrontations with Anabel and the Pokémon Champions. The air was charged with anticipation as the mission unfolded, each team member playing a crucial role in the unfolding events. Sarah, perched on the fossilized Pokémon, contemplated the potential challenges ahead. The waiting game had begun.
As Nemona briskly navigated the winding paths of Area Zero, her eyes darted from side to side, scanning the cavern walls for any signs of movement. Arven and Penny followed closely, their expressions determined and focused. Anabel, Looker, Cynthia, Iris, and Sierra trailed behind, their footsteps echoing in unison. The atmosphere in the cavern was tense, and the urgency of their mission weighed heavily on everyone's shoulders. Anabel, with her psychic abilities, periodically reached out to sense any disturbances or anomalies in the environment. Looker, the International Police officer, kept a watchful eye on their surroundings, ready to respond to any unexpected threats.
As they delved deeper into Area Zero, the cavern's architecture took on an otherworldly appearance. Strange glyphs adorned the walls, and the air seemed to hum with an eerie energy. The group exchanged glances, silently acknowledging the gravity of their quest to locate the elusive Paradox Pokémon. Nemona suddenly halted, raising her hand to signal the group to stop. She pointed to a concealed entrance hidden behind a cascading waterfall. "This is it," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the rushing water. "Beyond this entrance lies the heart of Area Zero, where the Paradox Pokémon are said to manifest."
The group gathered around Nemona as she outlined their plan. Anabel focused her psychic powers, attempting to sense the presence of Ash and his companions. Looker checked his equipment, ensuring that they were prepared for any potential confrontations. Cynthia, Iris, and Sierra exchanged determined glances, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. With a collective nod, the group moved forward, passing through the hidden entrance and entering a chamber bathed in an ethereal glow. The cavern resonated with the mysterious energy unique to Area Zero. As they ventured deeper, the echoes of running footsteps were replaced by an eerie silence, heightening the tension in the air.
The search for Ash and his group in the heart of Area Zero had only just begun, and the outcome remained uncertain. The cavern's secrets held the key to unraveling the mysteries of the Paradox Pokémon, and the fate of the region hung in the balance.
As the group drew nearer, the young blonde woman, Sarah, maintained her relaxed posture atop the fossilized Paradox Pokémon. Her eyes, however, glinted with a mixture of impatience and curiosity. The cavern's ambient glow reflected off her determined gaze as she observed the approaching party. Nemona, Arven, and Penny exchanged glances, recognizing Sarah from their past encounters. Anabel, Looker, Cynthia, Iris, and Sierra remained vigilant, assessing the situation as they closed in on the enigmatic figure.
"Sarah," Nemona called out, her voice echoing through the cavern. "We're not here to cause trouble. We're searching for Ash!"
Sarah's expression remained stoic, her gaze shifting among the group members. When her eyes met Stratos, a former Elite member now allied with their cause, a frown briefly crossed her face. Unspoken tensions lingered in the air, but Sarah quickly composed herself. "Trouble seems to follow you wherever you go," Sarah remarked, her voice carrying a hint of sarcasm. "But if you're here for Ash, sorry but I can't allow you to proceed any further!" She gracefully dismounted the fossilized Pokémon and glared at the party.
The atmosphere in the cavern shifted abruptly as Sarah's declaration hung in the air. The group, caught off guard by her sudden change in demeanor, exchanged wary glances. Nemona, Arven, and Penny tensed, ready for whatever might come next.
Nemona stepped forward, trying to defuse the tension. "Sarah, we don't have time for this. We need to find Ash!"
Sarah's gaze remained unwavering, her determination clear. "I have my reasons," she replied cryptically. "Reasons that go beyond your understanding. I won't let anyone jeopardize what's at stake."
Anabel, sensing the rising tension, reached out with her psychic abilities, attempting to gauge Sarah's intentions. Looker discreetly adjusted his stance, prepared for any sudden movements.
Nemona, with a hint of frustration, spoke firmly, "We're not your enemies!"
Sarah remained unmoved, her eyes flickering with a mixture of conflict and resolve. "I can't trust anyone right now. Not even former Elites." Her gaze lingered pointedly on Stratos, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.
Iris took a step forward, feeling annoyed with the stalemate. "Alright, you! If you're not going to move and get out of the way, then we'll have to force you!" she warned, catching Sarah's attention.
"You must be Iris, right?" she asked, smirking amusingly.
"Yeah, what about it?" she challenged, giving Sarah a sharp glare.
"Dragon-types are just so overrated!" the blonde woman declared with a smug smirk, causing the Dragon Master to feel annoyed.
Iris, known for her strong bond with Dragon-type Pokémon, narrowed her eyes at Sarah's dismissive remark. The tension in the cavern escalated as the Unova Champion's patience wore thin "You've got a lot of nerve to insult Dragon-types," Iris retorted, her voice carrying a mix of irritation and determination. "But talk is cheap. We won't let anything stand in our way." Sarah's smirk widened, seemingly unfazed by Iris's response.
"I'd love to see you prove the strength of Dragon-types," Sarah challenged with a sarcastic tone.
Iris clenched her fists, visibly frustrated. The clash of personalities and ideologies hung heavily in the air. Anabel, sensing the rising tension, exchanged a concerned glance with the rest of the group. Looker adjusted his stance, prepared for any sudden developments.
"That does it! I challenge you right here and right now! I will show you that Dragon-types are the greatest!" The cavern echoed with the challenge issued by Iris, the Unova Champion and Dragon Master.
Sarah responded with a smug smirk, seemingly amused by the turn of events. "Very well, Iris," Sarah said, her tone confident. "I'm not one to back down from a challenge. But let's make it interesting. A battle of ideologies, not just Pokémon."
Iris raised an eyebrow, curious about Sarah's proposal. "What do you mean?"
Sarah hopped down from the fossilized Pokémon, landing gracefully on the cavern floor. "A battle where we can determine which philosophy is stronger – the raw strength of Dragon-types or the majestic style of Pokémon battles. As the Majestic Lotus, I don't depend on raw power to win my battles, but rather on my majestic and graceful approach, which Dragon-types lack," she taunted.
The group watched as the tension shifted from a potential physical confrontation to a battle of ideals. Anabel, with her psychic abilities, could sense the intensity of the emotions emanating from both sides. Looker maintained his watchful stance, prepared for any unforeseen developments.
Iris, determined to defend the honor of Dragon-types, nodded. "Fine, let's do it. But remember, this won't change the fact that we're here to find Ash."
Sarah's smirk persisted as she took a few steps back, creating a bit of distance. "Agreed. Let's see if your Dragon-types can withstand my majestic grace."
As the two prepared for their unique battle, the cavern seemed to hold its breath, anticipating the clash of ideologies and strengths. The echoes of footsteps were replaced by the imminent clash of wills, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding drama within the heart of Area Zero.
"Go, Ursaring!" As Sarah tossed her Poké Ball forward, a burst of light materialized into the formidable form of a Shiny Ursaring. The unusual choice of a Normal-type Pokémon intrigued the onlookers, and the Shiny Ursaring roared, ready for battle. Its fur, a rare shade of green, glowed in the ambient light of the cavern.
Iris, undeterred, reached for her own Poké Ball. "Go, Haxorus!" With a burst of energy, Iris's imposing Haxorus emerged, its sharp tusks gleaming. The Dragon-type Pokémon roared in response to the challenge, locking eyes with the Shiny Ursaring.
The cavern's atmosphere crackled with anticipation as the two Trainers faced each other, their Pokémon ready for battle. Anabel, Looker, and the rest of the group watched with heightened interest, realizing that this confrontation went beyond a simple Pokémon battle—it was a clash of philosophies and strengths.
"Let the battle begin," Sarah declared, her smirk never leaving her face. The tension in the cavern escalated as the two powerful Pokémon prepared to showcase the strength of their respective types in this unique and symbolic confrontation within the heart of Area Zero. "Alright, Ursaring! Let's start off with Bulk up!" Sarah's command echoed through the cavern as the Shiny Ursaring responded immediately.
The Normal-type Pokémon flexed its powerful muscles, its form becoming even more imposing. The green fur seemed to shimmer with increased intensity as Ursaring heightened its physical strength with the Bulk Up technique.
Iris watched carefully, analyzing her opponent's strategy. She knew that Shiny Ursaring, boosted with increased power, could pose a significant threat. However, Iris remained confident in Haxorus's abilities. "Haxorus, let's counter with Dragon Dance!" Iris commanded. Haxorus responded with agility and grace, its movements becoming more fluid as it performed the Dragon Dance. The Dragon-type energy coursed through its body, enhancing both its attack and speed.
"Clever, trying to raise your power and speed, huh?" Sarah's taunt didn't seem to faze Iris, who met the comment with a determined glare. As the Shiny Ursaring, fueled by the Bulk Up boost, prepared for the upcoming attack. "Slash, now!"
"Haxorus, quick! Dodge and counter with Dual Chop!" Iris directed. Haxorus, with enhanced speed from the Dragon Dance, swiftly evaded the oncoming Slash attack from Ursaring. The Dragon-type Pokémon then retaliated with a powerful Dual Chop, its tusks slashing through the air with precision.
The clash between the two Pokémon unfolded with a mix of elegance and raw power. The cavern echoed with the sounds of Ursaring's slashing movements and the resounding impact of Haxorus's Dual Chop. The battle of philosophies continued, each trainer showcasing their unique approach to combat.
Sarah maintained her smirk, seemingly unfazed by the counterattack. "Not bad, but this is just the beginning. Ursaring, follow up with Hammer Arm!" the blonde Elite commanded.
Sarah's strategy continued to unfold as she directed Ursaring to follow up with the powerful Hammer Arm. The Shiny Ursaring, still benefitting from the Bulk Up, moved with surprising speed for a Pokémon of its size, closing the distance between itself and Haxorus.
Iris quickly assessed the situation, realizing the potential impact of the incoming Hammer Arm. "Haxorus, brace yourself! Counter with Dragon Claw!" she called out.
Haxorus, with a swift and agile motion, intercepted Ursaring's Hammer Arm with its Dragon Claw. The clash of the two powerful moves sent sparks flying, creating an intense moment of tension in the cavern. The strength and determination of both Pokémon were on full display as they engaged in a fierce exchange of blows.
The echoes of their roars reverberated through Area Zero, creating an atmosphere charged with the energy of the battle. The ongoing clash between Ursaring and Haxorus showcased the unique strengths and tactics of each trainer, turning the confrontation into a spectacle that went beyond a simple Pokémon battle.
Sarah clicked her tongue in annoyance. "Very stubborn, but nonetheless expected! Ursaring, Bulk Up again and then follow it up with Brick Break!" she commanded. Sarah's frustration was palpable as she ordered Ursaring to Bulk Up once more, further enhancing its physical prowess. The Shiny Ursaring, now even more formidable than before, flexed its muscles as it prepared for the next attack.
Iris maintained her focus, recognizing the need to adapt to the changing dynamics of the battle. "Haxorus, we can't let them overpower us! Use Dragon Claw again to intercept, and then counter with your own Dragon Dance!"
Haxorus responded with precision, intercepting Ursaring's Brick Break with its Dragon Claw once more. The clash of the two powerful moves created a burst of energy, sending shockwaves through the cavern. As the dust settled, Haxorus swiftly transitioned into another graceful Dragon Dance, further enhancing its attack and speed.
"Slash now!"
With a swift and assertive command from Sarah, Ursaring, fueled by the enhanced power from Bulk Up, lunged forward with a sharp Slash aimed at Haxorus. The cavern seemed to hold its breath as the attack unfolded.
Iris, undeterred, issued her next move. "Haxorus, dodge and counter with Poison Jab!" she directed.
Haxorus, boosted by the earlier Dragon Dance, displayed remarkable agility as it evaded Ursaring's Slash. Seizing the opportunity, Haxorus retaliated with a Poison Jab, its tusks glowing with venomous energy.
The clash between Slash and Poison Jab created a dazzling display of skill and strategy. The two Pokémon, each representing their trainer's philosophy, engaged in a dynamic exchange that showcased the essence of the battle. The cavern echoed with the sounds of their moves, creating an atmosphere charged with excitement and anticipation.
"Hammer Arm to the floor!" Sarah's strategic commands unfolded as Ursaring, following her instructions, executed a powerful Hammer Arm, aiming to strike the cavern floor with tremendous force. The impact created a shockwave that resonated through the surroundings.
Iris, quick to adapt, assessed the situation. "Haxorus, use Dragon Dance to leap and evade! Follow it up with Dragon Claw!" she directed.
Haxorus, with its heightened speed from the Dragon Dance, gracefully leaped into the air, evading the Hammer Arm that collided with the cavern floor. Seizing the opportunity, Haxorus descended swiftly, tusks gleaming with Dragon Claw energy as it aimed for Ursaring.
However, Sarah wasn't finished yet. "Brick Break, now!" she commanded.
Ursaring, despite the initial Hammer Arm, quickly recovered and unleashed a rapid and precise Brick Break. The clash of Dragon Claw and Brick Break created an explosive collision, sending sparks flying in all directions.
Bbbooooooooommmm
The aftermath of the intense clash left both Ursaring and Haxorus visibly exhausted. The cavern's atmosphere hung heavy with the remnants of the battle as the two powerful Pokémon stood face to face, displaying the toll the fierce confrontation had taken on them. As the intensity of the battle reached its peak, both Shiny Ursaring and Haxorus winced simultaneously, the strain of the fierce clash finally catching up with them. The exhaustion etched across their faces became more pronounced, and with synchronized movements, both Pokémon collapsed to the cavern floor.
"It's a draw?" The simultaneous acknowledgment of a draw echoed through the cavern, marking the end of the first round between Sarah and Iris.
As Sarah recalled her Shiny Ursaring, her determination remained evident. The cavern's ambient glow reflected off the Steelix Poké Ball she now held in her hand. With a resolute expression, she tossed the Poké Ball forward, summoning her powerful Steelix into the fray. "Steelix, it's your turn!"
The cavern's atmosphere shifted once more as the massive Steelix materialized, its metallic scales gleaming in the dim light. The ground seemed to tremble slightly under the weight of the imposing Pokémon.
Iris, observing the change in Sarah's lineup, prepared for the next phase of the battle. The group of trainers, including Nemona, Arven, Penny, Anabel, Looker, Cynthia, and Sierra, remained on alert, recognizing the potential challenges that Sarah's Steelix presented.
Iris put Haxorus back into its Poké Ball for a good rest before clutching Dragonite's Poké Ball and tossing it forward. "Dragonite, I need your help!" she exclaimed. With a burst of light, Iris summoned her Dragonite into the cavern. The majestic Dragon-type Pokémon emerged with a powerful presence, its wings stretched wide, and a determined glint in its eyes. The contrast between the size of Dragonite and Steelix created a dramatic scene within the cavern.
Sarah, eyeing the formidable Dragonite, maintained her steely resolve. The cavern's atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as the two powerful Pokémon faced each other.
"Dragonite, quick, use Flamethrower!" Iris made her first move. Iris's Dragonite, in response to her command, unleashed a powerful Flamethrower, sending a stream of intense flames toward Steelix. The cavern lit up with the fiery display as Dragonite showcased its Fire-type prowess.
"I figured your Dragonite had a Fire-type move! Knock the Flamethrower away with Iron Tail, Steelix," Sarah, however, was prepared for the elemental assault. With a confident smirk, she directed Steelix to counter the Flamethrower with Iron Tail. The massive Steelix swung its tail with precision, intercepting the flames and creating a clash of fire and metal.
The collision between Flamethrower and Iron Tail resulted in a burst of steam and sparks, filling the cavern with a dynamic display of power. The trainers and their Pokémon remained focused, aware that this battle went beyond type advantages—it was a testament to the strength and strategy of both sides.
"Quick, Dragonite, Ice Beam!" Iris commanded her Pokemon with urgency.
"Dodge it around with Gyro Ball, Steelix! Then counter with Stone Edge!" Sarah quickly reacted to the situation and gave her command to Steelix, her trusted Pokemon.
Iris's Dragonite, reacting swiftly to its trainer's command, unleashed a powerful Ice Beam toward Steelix. The icy blast streaked through the air, leaving a frosty trail in its wake.
However, Sarah was quick to respond with a strategic maneuver. She ordered Steelix to dodge the incoming Ice Beam using Gyro Ball, the massive Pokémon showcasing surprising agility for its size. Steelix's sleek movements allowed it to evade the freezing attack. Seizing the opportunity, Sarah directed Steelix to counter with Stone Edge. The rocky projectiles launched from Steelix's tail, creating a barrage of sharp stones hurtling toward Dragonite.
Dragonite, having launched the Ice Beam, adjusted its course to evade the incoming Stone Edge. The clash of Ice Beam and Stone Edge created a dazzling display of contrasting elements within the cavern.
"Now, Steelix, use Gyro Ball again!" Sarah ordered Steelix to continue the attack with Gyro Ball. Sarah seized the opening created by the successful evasion of Dragonite's Ice Beam and capitalized on the moment. With a confident command, she directed Steelix to execute Gyro Ball once again. The massive Steelix, displaying remarkable agility, launched into a rapid spin, ready to strike with the powerful Steel-type move.
Dragonite, having evaded the Stone Edge, found itself in a vulnerable position as Steelix approached with the Gyro Ball. Iris, recognizing the impending threat, shouted, "Dragonite, use Agility to dodge it!"
"What!" Sarah exclaimed in genuine surprise while Iris couldn't help but smirk at her opponent's priceless reaction.
Dragonite responded with incredible speed, utilizing the Agility technique to swiftly maneuver out of the way of Steelix's Gyro Ball. The cavern echoed with the sound of the powerful move missing its mark. The unexpected collision between Steelix's Gyro Ball and the cavern ceiling sent shockwaves through the cavern. The violent impact caused a cascade of rocks to fall, creating a chaotic scene as debris rained down from above.
The Trainers, including Nemona, Arven, Penny, Anabel, Looker, Cynthia, and Sierra, reacted quickly, shielding themselves from the falling rocks. The tremors added an element of urgency to the already intense battle between Steelix and Dragonite.
Sarah, witnessing the aftermath of the collision, clenched her fists in frustration. "Steelix, get back in the fight!" she commanded, determined to recover from the setback.
Iris, assessing the situation, called out to her Dragonite, "Dragonite, seize the opportunity! Use Dragon Rush!"
Dragonite, swift and decisive, capitalized on the temporary distraction caused by Steelix's collision. With a powerful roar, Dragonite charged toward the disoriented Steelix, ready to unleash the forceful Dragon Rush.
"Steelix, quick, Gyro Ball at the Dragon Rush!" Sarah, reacting swiftly to Dragonite's incoming Dragon Rush, issued a hurried command to Steelix. Despite the earlier setback, Steelix responded to its Trainer's urgency, launching into another Gyro Ball in an attempt to intercept the oncoming Dragon Rush.
Bbbooooooooommmm
The cavern echoed with the clash of the two powerful moves, creating a dynamic collision of Steel and Dragon energy. The force of the impact sent shockwaves through the air, causing a burst of energy to ripple through the cavern.
The Trainers and their Pokémon, amidst the chaos of falling rocks and battling forces, remained focused on the unfolding clash. The outcome of this pivotal moment in the battle between Steelix and Dragonite held the potential to shift the tide in favor of one side.
The collision between Steelix's Gyro Ball and Dragonite's Dragon Rush resulted in a powerful impact that sent both Pokémon hurtling backward. The cavern resonated with the sound of loud thuds as Steelix and Dragonite crashed towards the floor.
Sarah, determined to press on, called out to her Steelix, "Get back up, Steelix! We're not done yet!" With a visible grimace, Steelix crawled up, moving very slowly.
Iris, equally resolute, urged her Dragonite, "Hang in there, Dragonite! We can't back down now!" Through the agony, Dragonite stood up, wincing in discomfort.
The cavern held a temporary stillness as Steelix and Dragonite, both exhausted from their intense clash, weakly stared at each other. The mutual weariness of the two mighty Pokémon created a moment of silent acknowledgment between them. Sarah and Iris, standing a short distance away, exchanged glances. The decision on the next course of action weighed heavily on their shoulders. After a brief pause, Sarah nodded at Steelix, a silent agreement passing between them. "Steelix, return," she said, recalling her worn-out Pokémon to its Poké Ball, surprising the group.
"What just happened?" Arven asked, perplexed and unable to explain the scene he had just witnessed. "Did she surrender?"
Iris, recognizing the gesture, did the same for her exhausted Dragonite. The cavern fell into contemplative silence as the Pokémon were returned to their Poké Balls, the group now standing amidst the aftermath of their intense battle.
Anabel's educated guess was a reasonable assumption, considering the lack of a decisive winner in the battle between Steelix and Dragonite.
Nemona wore a sad smile as she spoke, "Sarah has come to accept the fact that she can't win against Iris, not with the current lineup she has with her."
Anabel's curiosity got the better of her as she asked, "How do you know so well about Sarah?"
The Champion of the Paldea region turned towards the International Pokémon officer and smiled, "It's not that difficult. I have battled her many times in the past." The officer looked intrigued, and the Champion continued, "She usually carries only three Pokémon with her, and I can tell that she had already used her third one before we arrived here." The Champion's confident tone conveyed her experience and knowledge in the field of Pokémon battles.
"I see."
"No!" The cavern's atmosphere shifted as Sarah's frustration and anguish spilled into the open, expressed through pounding fists and gritted teeth, resonated with the weight of personal loss and the burden of expectations.
Iris and the rest of the group watched, a mix of concern and empathy in their eyes. The echoes of the battle had faded, leaving behind a raw and vulnerable moment for Sarah.
Iris approached Sarah, a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Sarah, losing a battle doesn't define your worth. We all face challenges, and it's okay not to be perfect. We're here for each other, and together, we'll find a way through."
The cavern's silence enveloped the group as Sarah absorbed Iris's words. The weight of her emotions seemed to echo in the stillness, and the dirt beneath her gaze bore witness to the intensity of her internal struggle. Iris, respecting the gravity of the moment, remained by Sarah's side, offering a silent presence of support. The rest of the group, too, stood in solidarity, understanding that battles went beyond the physical clashes of Pokémon.
With the battle coming to an unexpected end and Sarah's defeat, the group found an opportunity to regroup and redirect their focus toward the primary objective: finding Ash and Cutlass.

Ash/Raven: "So...Sarah has been defeated, I see."
Cutlass: "Figures. She was always reckless. Good riddance!"
Nemona: "We're on the right track! We need to hurry!"
Arven: "Slow down, Nemona! Jeez...that girl never listens!"
Cutlass: "Chapter 17: The Strongest! Sinnoh Champion vs Swordswoman!"
Cutlass: "So, we meet at last Miss Sinnoh Champion!"
Cynthia: "Wait, aren't you..."
Cutlass: "This is my chance to prove that I am Ash's true equal! Get ready to face me!"
Poor Sarah. It's unfortunate that she may not be seen again anytime soon. While Lance, Leon, and Steven were being speculated about, they were busy fighting off Elite Corp grunts to buy time for their companions to enter the Area Zero cavern. I hope you enjoyed the battle between Iris and Sarah, even though Iris' victory was unexpected. The Elite Corp is slowly falling apart, but there are still secret members waiting to be revealed. In the next chapter, we'll see Cynthia go up against Cutlass, and hopefully, there won't be any surprises this time around.
