Disclaimer: I do not own Kim Possible
A/N: Just a cute little idea that came to my mind about Kim and Ron's friendship pre-series. Hope you enjoy.
"You're weird. But I like you."
Ever since that first meeting, Kim no longer felt any trepidation about going to Pre-K. In fact the next morning she had been the one to wake up her parents bright and early. Eager to return back and see Ron again. Her first friend.
The pair did practically everything together. From the arts and crafts Ron preferred, to the games of tag and hopscotch more favored by Kim; and during naptime they would whisper together about this and that until their teacher came along to gently put an end to it. Even as Kim's confidence grew, and her circle of friends along with it, she still preferred Ron's company above all others.
Of course, outside of school hours their parents took the time to collaborate playdates. Leading to the first of many traditions they would share throughout the years.
Things got even better during Kindergarten. When Ron's family moved into the vacant lot next to hers.
How lucky it was to have your best friend living right next door. Able to see each other whenever they pleased. Provided they had parental permission of course.
And that's precisely what happened on a bright Saturday afternoon. Ann had led Kim by the hand (who kept insisting rather grumpily that she could "Walk there by myself!") to the Stoppable residence. Ron's mother directing her to the backyard, as her and Ann settled in for a chat.
Kim spotted him sitting cross-legged out near a patch of golden dandelions that had sprouted up during the night. The results of them entertaining themselves by blowing the fluffy white seeds into the yard days previously. His hands working with something.
"Hi, Ron!"
"Hi, Kim," he answered, not looking back.
"What are you doing?"
"Making something..." his focus still rapt on his mysterious task.
"What're you making?" attempting to peek over his shoulder.
But Ron yelped, turning away and hunching in on himself. "Not yet!"
"O-kay..." raising a brow as she sat on the ground next to him
His arms fiddled just a little more, "Annd...There!"
He finally turned, holding up his masterpiece proudly. A crown of flowers, woven from dandelion bounty surrounding them. There were even a few daisies in the mix, most likely retrieved from his mother's flower bed. "For you!"
"Oh wow!" she cried, with admiration. "It's so pretty!"
"Here," carefully draping it over her head.
She giggled, "Thanks," adjusting it among her pigtails. "You know, I have a surprise for you too."
Brown eyes widened, "What?"
She leaned nearer, cupping her face as she whispered in his ear. His jaw dropping at her words.
"Really!?"
She nodded vigorously. Suddenly taking him by the hand and leading him around the yard to a large tree.
"I heard our dad's talking about it."
"Wow!" he gasped. "Our very own treehouse!" His imagination already running wild as he gazed in awe up at the empty branches.
"But don't say anything," she warned, whispering. "It's supposed to be a secret."
"Got it!"
"Good. Now... Tag! You're it!" giving him a light shove and taking off in the opposite direction.
It took him a moment to process what had just happened. Upon which he quickly followed after her. The two of them laughing loudly all the while.
The big "surprise" was finished just in time for the start of summer vacation. Where it soon became a favorite spot of the two best friends for many summers following.
