There's darkness. Then the eyes open, they were never supposed to. There's something wrong, but no time to think or reflect about what is wrong, just run. A headache and ears ringing, blurry vision, the smells of rotten flesh and metal are almost indistinguishable. There's blood and a deafening sound of something enormous and mechanical. No knowledge of what is going on, no memories to consult, no information. Remnants of survival instincts are the only helper in this moment. Just follow the light and make it out of this nightmare.

What went wrong? There isn't supposed to be life in the garbage. It's impossible to run or walk, crawling is the only viable option in this case. The legs are probably there, but there isn't movement or any feeling. A lot is missing, just enough to survive, the machines must have done a lot of damage. The light is getting closer, it's orange now, not the yellow that it used to be the first time it was seen. Just a bit more, you can make it. It's too hard, moving, getting out of place is too hard, no matter how fast, no matter how strong. The light has been reached.

There is a smell of smoke, silhouettes of tall, bulky machines in the distance. There is creaking and shouting, the light is too bright for the vision to get used to easily. Someone looks, they have a face unrecognisable, the person yells. Scared. More people, they are confused, they look over, they are scared. They are scary, run. The people shout and yell, everything is darker. The legs are there, they are barely working, it is hard, but run. It's all blurry, there are a lot of collisions, significant damage, run, keep running. Steal a pair of glasses, they will be useful later.

IIIII

The girl gets up. Years have passed since she escaped. Her brain was damaged when she took the opportunity to get away, so the machine took control of her. Her body has been wandering through the world, trying to repair itself.

She was supposed to have died when she got discarded, but guess what happens when you make experiments bringing someone to life throughout their whole life and don't even bother removing the things you used to bring them back to life from their body before killing them? The brain probably won't remember the first sixteen years of the body's life when it wakes up, it's hard to regenerate a brain and find a proper place to store the memories, but she will still be there.

Most of the body has been destroyed by the heavy machinery in the dumpster, but the part responsible for acknowledging the damage and repairing the body still survived. Her artificial part took over her brain and put her in a coma. This way it's easier for her body to take care of itself without a lot of interference from the organic part. Once the girl wakes up, she will be able to have total control of her body and her mind, but the artificial part will lose access to her brain and they will never be able to communicate properly.

The machine takes care of the girl's body like a mother. It has been learning and storing muscle memory into her living body. It has been feeding her, keeping her away from danger, letting her rest after a long day of wandering aimlessly. The machine is selfless and it's putting the girl in first place. Both of them have suffered enough, but she is the only one that matters.

There's only a bit left.
