Alex, Kai and Efe traverse through the dense jungle and approach the wooden structure. It's not just one structure. There is a whole farm with fences and animals everywhere. There are crops and shacks and a barn. There is what looks like a door that goes into the bottom of a little hill.

E: You think someone lives there?

Al: I… Don't know. I'll go there and just hope it's not someone that will try to kill us.

The three cross the field and walk up to the door, but the resident beats them to it.

Ar: Oh, hey! How may I help you three?

Al: Ummm… We–

E: Please may we come in? We were travelling and ran out of resources and food. We are desperate.

K: Sis, I'm not desperate, you are.

Al: I am.

Ar: Okay, you may come in, but you will have to do something first.

K: … Oh…

Ar: I need a thing from each of you.

E: I give up.

Ar: Your n– Already? What do you mean "I give up"?

E: I don't know, go on, sorry.

Ar: I need your names.

K: Oh.

E: That… My name is Efe.

Al: Alex.

K: Kai.

Ar: I'm Ari. It's a pleasure to meet you! Come on in, I just finished making dinner that's supposed to last a week or so… Or a couple of days for four people.

Al: Thank you so much! We just need to stay here for a couple of days and we'll be gone. We don't want to bother you or use up too much of your stuff.

Ar: Oh, no, you can stay for as long as you need. Hospitality is one of the things that run in my family. And so is the whole farming business, my resources are kind of overflowing. I beg you, stay for as long as you need.

K: You know what? I think I'll stay, I'm in need of some rest now before we go look for a village.

The girls decide to stay. Alex is still indecisive about where exactly she wants to go. She knows her purpose and is taking her mission seriously, but still really wants to stay with the others.

Everyone sets up camp in Ari's front yard while she sets up the table for dinner. While they're at the table, Alex brings up the book that Kai had gotten earlier.

Al: So… Kai, that book you got. Is it really about a dragon or was I just hallucinating?

K: Oh, yeah, the Ender Dragons.

Al: Is it possible for us to reach one of those?

K: It's very hard and there's a specific time for the portal to be opened.

Al: You also said something about them being able to control every creature in the world or whatever.

K: Oh, yeah, that guy is a real menace, its whole species is endangered and it's probably very angry and sad. And with there being an access to their dimension now, it can probably leave. The best we can do now is hope that it doesn't come for us, since we don't have the power to deal with it.

Al: I'm really considering fighting the dragon.

E: Hah, what now?

Ar: I do not know what you three are talking about, but fighting a dragon sounds interesting.

K: No, no one is fighting any dragons.

Al: I can have the book for a while and study it for a bit and then give it back to you when I'm done.

K: Listen, generations of witches have been wanting to reach the last dragon. Its acid breath is the key for a lot of advancements in alchemy.

Al: See? We need–

K: And even then, no one has dared to do anything to do with the dragon.

Al: Don't you want to be the first?

E: She got a point

Ar: Yes, I think that we can reach this dragon and come back safely if we work together. You three look like strong and capable warriors. I can… Take care of the resources.

Al: That's what I'm saying! We need to do it!

K: Since when does– We… I'll think about it, but I'll stay out of the whole thing.

Al: By the way, when exactly is the time period you mentioned?

K: What?

Al: Y'know, for the portal to be opened and stuff.

K: I'll look into that, I need some sleep first before thinking about the dragon. I think we all need some sleep in general.

Ar: So… What brings you three here? I don't think I've asked before.

E: Nothing in particular.

Al: Work. I'm trying to help Kai find a home.

Ar: That's nice, what do you work with exactly?

Al: I kill monsters and… Kill monsters… And I also protect villages.

K: Excuse me, I'll be leaving now. I need to study the book a bit.

Ar: Don't worry about washing your dishes.

Al: Scream if you need anything.

Kai leaves her dishes in the kitchen and goes outside to read the book. No monsters around, just a lot of animals and the stars. Kai disagrees completely with the whole "killing the dragon" thing, but she knows what's to come.

She goes through the nether, the strategies, the resources that will be needed, the whole thing leaves her scared for her life. Not a lot will be needed, but the few things that will be are hard to reach, acquire and get away from.

Efe comes out of the house and sits beside Kai to look at the stars starting to appear, but it's still not dark enough. She gets up and decides to walk around for a bit and look at the animals.

Kai keeps seeing things in the book that make her more and more anxious, but one of the things stands out. She lets out an audible "Oh gods" and gets up.

K: Efe!

E: Huh?

K: I just found something out.

Kai goes inside, Efe follows her. Kai looks a bit too desperate for someone who wasn't interested in the subject a few minutes ago.

Alex and Ari are in the kitchen talking about work or whatever, when Kai comes in and interrupts the conversation by putting the book on the table of the dining room.

K: Alex.

Al: Oh no, what is it?

K: We have a deadline.

Al: Oh, you… You want to do the dragon thing?

K: The portal for the end dimension needs a specific amount of magic for it to be opened and the period in which the magic in all dimensions align ends in ten days. We need to start the thing as soon as possible!

Al: Okay, what will be necessary?

K: Obsidian, gold, some type of armor, a lot of food, potions, weapons…

E: Oh, there's a lot.

K: …Probably enchantments, camping gear, fireproof camping gear, ranged weapons, a lot of–

Ar: Wait, did you say potions?

K: We will need a lot and I don't know if we will be able to reach–

Al: Kai, it'll be fine, I think we can do it.

E: Talk a bit slower.

K: Are you sure?

Ar: If all four of us work together I think we can reach this dragon of yours in time.

K: Listen, I don't want you to be involved in this whole thing too,

E: No, I'm going, I have nothing to do and I feel like I owe you two this for letting me travel with you.

K: I'm going because I know Alex won't let go of the idea and she will need a guide or something.

Ar: I'll go too. I just won't fight, you three are very brave and I insist on helping you on this journey. Even though I've only known you for an hour and a couple of minutes.

Al: Are you all sure?

K: We will start tomorrow. By the way, Ari, do you have spare bottles?

Ar: Yes, please, take however many you want. I gave up on a honey farm idea and have glass bottles to last five lifetimes.

K: Thanks. I say we're done for now. Let's get some sleep and finish planning everything out and start putting it all into action early tomorrow.

Al: You know what? I think it's time for me to give up on the reverse sleep cycle.

The girls go outside. Efe can't stop looking at the starry sky and trips over three rocks. They each go to their tent and go to sleep.
