A storm of energy blades and blaster fire echoed through the steel corridors of the underground facility, transforming it into a full-blown warzone. The Guardians were in the middle of a high-stakes operation: the retrieval of a secret project buried beneath the surface—an ominous remnant of Master Albert's ambition to reshape the world.
At the forefront of the mission were two legendary figures—Vent and Ashe. Known respectively as Megaman X and Megaman A, each was a force of nature in their own right. Together, they were nearly unstoppable. Heroes who had, on separate occasions, saved the world, now fought side by side. To outsiders, deploying both on a single operation might seem excessive. But the Guardians knew better.
The signal they had detected matched the unique energy signature of a Biometal. Though the details were murky, the potential implications were too great to ignore. And judging by the overwhelming resistance—waves of Mavericks and heavily armed security systems—it was clear that whatever was down here, someone didn't want it found.
Vent and Ashe carved a path through the chaos, dismantling hostiles with brutal efficiency. Behind them, the rest of the Guardian forces swept through, dealing with the remnants. The deeper they went, the clearer it became: this mission was more than just retrieval. It was a race against whatever secrets Albert had left buried in the dark.
The flickering emergency lights painted the halls in pulses of red and shadow as Vent's Buster blasted through a Mechaniloid, sending its smoking remains skidding across the metal floor. Ashe, just behind him, ducked under a barrage of plasma shots before countering with a precision blaster burst that dropped the turret in a single, searing hit.
"Status?" Vent asked, glancing back briefly as he moved forward.
"Clear—for now," Ashe replied, scanning their surroundings. Her scanner flared for a moment. "But there's more movement two corridors down. Heavily shielded. Probably guarding something important."
Vent nodded. "Then we're getting close."
The pair pushed deeper into the facility, the air thick with the heat of discharged weapons and the hum of unstable machinery. Signs of recent activity were everywhere—half-disassembled terminals, smashed security doors, and spent power cores littering the halls. Whatever was being hidden here hadn't been dormant for long.
As they approached the central vault, a tremor shook the ground beneath their feet.
"Earthquake?" Ashe asked, shifting her stance.
Vent narrowed his eyes. "No. That was something else."
The security doors ahead let out a low mechanical groan, then opened in sections, revealing a chamber bathed in a strange, pulsing light. Inside, containment pods lined the walls, most shattered or empty. But at the center stood a single pod still active—its glass fogged, obscuring the shape inside.
The signal they'd been tracking pulsed stronger now, practically singing in their Biometals' cores.
"There," Ashe muttered, stepping closer, her blaster raised. "That has to be it."
Vent approached cautiously, placing a hand on the console beside the pod. The interface flickered to life, revealing old Guardian encryption layered with remnants of Albert's code. He started working through the barriers.
But before he could finish, an alert blared.
"Containment breach detected."
With a loud hiss, the pod began to activate its emergency protocol.
"Ashe—!" Vent warned.
She was already moving, taking cover just as the pod began to light up with red warning lights.
"What's happening?!" Ashe shouted, eyes narrowing as the pod's glow intensified.
Vent's fingers flew across the console. "The pod has an emergency teleportation function! It's trying to relocate the Biometal—probably to keep it out of our hands!"
"We can't let that happen!" Ashe aimed her blasters. "Let's bust it open!"
But before she could fire, the ground trembled violently. Dust fell from the ceiling—then it collapsed in a burst of rubble and smoke.
A massive mechanical figure descended from the opening above. Its body hovered, supported by hidden thrusters, while its two massive hands floated separately at its sides, crackling with restrained energy. Its glowing eyes locked onto them with cold precision.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Ashe groaned. "We were so close!"
Vent stepped in front of her, readying his X-Buster. "A Sub-Boss. Of course Albert left something like this to guard the pod. We need to take it down fast—that teleportation won't wait for us!"
With a mechanical roar, the floating-handed titan descended from the breach in the ceiling, thrusters flaring as it landed with a thunderous crash that rattled the chamber. Its massive frame dwarfed even the tallest Mechaniloids they'd faced so far—sleek black armor lined with crimson veins of energy pulsed like veins across its limbs, and its "hands" orbited independently, sparking with energy fields ready to crush or blast at will.
"Vent!" Ashe shouted, already dodging as one of the floating hands launched forward like a rocket-powered piston, slamming into the ground with enough force to crater the floor.
"On it!" Vent dashed forward in a blue blur, his X-Buster charging with a flare of light as he blasted one of the orbiting hands. Sparks flew, but the hand quickly disengaged and returned to the main body, which responded by charging an energy beam in its chest cavity.
Meanwhile, the pod behind them began to glow more violently.
"Teleportation sequence: 20%," a robotic voice announced from the nearby console.
"We've got less than a minute!" Vent growled. "We have to disable that bot fast!"
Ashe zipped around the battlefield with high-speed dashes, firing charged shots that bounced off the Sub-Boss's armor. "This thing's tough, even for Maverick leftovers!"
"We need to separate the hands—disrupt its attack pattern!" Vent shouted, leaping up and shooting down at an angle at the main body. The boss blocked with one of its hands, but the impact knocked it slightly off-balance.
Ashe seized the opportunity and fired a rapid burst at the exposed joints of the nearest hand. One of her shots struck a weak point, sending a spray of sparks flying and causing the hand to stutter mid-air.
"Got one!" she grinned.
"Nice!" Vent kicked off the main body and flipped backward, charging a new attack. "Let's take it down before it—"
But the Sub-Boss roared and launched both hands forward at once, spinning like giant saw blades. The room turned into a deathtrap of ricocheting kinetic force, forcing the two Megamen to split up again.
"Teleportation sequence: 60%."
"Ugh, come on!" Ashe shouted as she narrowly rolled under a hand and fired another charged shot at the bot's chest.
Suddenly, the Sub-Boss paused. Its systems flickered.
"Did we—?" Vent began.
Then the robot convulsed, its core glowing erratically, and it let out a mechanical screech. Energy erupted from the damaged hand, destabilizing its flight path. It smashed into the wall, pinning itself and leaving the main body vulnerable.
"NOW!" Ashe shouted.
"Together!" Vent leapt into the air, Ashe matching his movement.
The two struck in unison—Vent blasting a Charge Shot into its chest, Ashe's shots piercing the exposed internals. The Sub-Boss shuddered, its core sparking violently—
BOOM!
The explosion rocked the room, sending smoke and debris everywhere.
"Teleportation sequence: 90%. Warning! Pod has been damaged. Coordinates: Unknown."
The announcement caught the pair by surprise.
"Shoot! If it teleports now, it could end up anywhere!" Ashe shouted; eyes wide.
Vent dashed to the console, furiously typing in override commands—but his face fell as sparks burst from the control panel. "I can't stop it! The console's fried!"
"Teleportation sequence complete. Initializing teleportation."
The containment pod lit up with a blinding white glow. A heartbeat later, the light vanished—and the pod went completely dark.
The Biometal was gone.
"Darn it! We were this close to securing the Booty!" Ashe groaned, stomping in frustration.
Vent sighed, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Well, look on the bright side. With it being randomly teleported, the chances of Master Albert's remnants finding it are a lot lower now."
"I guess you're right... Last thing we need is another creep like Aeolus and the others showing up." Ashe crossed her arms, but her tone sharpened with determination. "Still, I'm not letting the Booty slip away. I am a Hunter, after all."
[You and your obsession with Booty. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were chasing boys instead of Biometals] Model A teased, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Ashe's face flushed crimson. "Y-you know that's not what I meant!"
Vent chuckled at their exchange, but his smile faded as a voice echoed in his mind—his own Biometal speaking up.
[Although it may have avoided falling into the wrong hands, the fact that the Biometal is now loose is deeply concerning] said Model X, tone serious. [Especially considering the energy it was emitting… I'll never forget that feeling.]
Vent narrowed his eyes. "You recognize it? Do you know what that Biometal was?"
Silence hung for a beat before Model X finally answered.
[Yes. That Biometal was most likely based on… Omega.]
Ashe blinked. "Omega? Who's Omega?"
[Omega was Zero's, Model Z's, original body] Model X explained. [After Zero transferred his mind into a copy body, the original was taken over by a mad scientist named Dr. Weil and used as a living weapon. It seems someone recovered Omega's remains and repurposed them into a Biometal—just like us. And that makes it incredibly dangerous. Whoever bonds with Omega's Biometal could become monstrously powerful. Even if they're not evil, Omega's influence is… corruptive. Unstable. Even the purest heart could fall.]
Vent exchanged a glance with Ashe. The mission was over, but the danger was only just beginning.
(Kuoh)
Hyoudou Issei was hanging out in the park alone, enjoying the breeze and the soft warmth of the sun. Just a couple days ago, he had received his acceptance letter from Kuoh Academy—a school that had recently gone co-ed. For Issei, it was more than just a chance to start high school.
It was a new beginning.
A chance to finally get a girlfriend.
"This is gonna be my chance," he grinned to himself, visions of a romantic high school life already playing out in his head.
Thud!
A sudden noise from behind snapped him out of his daydream. He turned, scanning the area. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first—until his eyes fell on something lying in the grass.
"Huh? What's this?" Issei muttered, walking over and picking it up.
The object was about the size of a thick smartphone, but it looked like a high-tech machine part—sleek, red and white with black trim, and lined with faintly glowing circuitry. It felt warm to the touch, like it was quietly alive.
He held it up to the light, turning it over in his hand.
"I don't know what you are," he said, tilting his head, "but I've got a good feeling about you. I'm gonna hang on to you, just in case you're lucky."
Smiling, he tucked the strange device into his pocket and headed home, completely unaware of the soft hum the object gave off as he walked away.
[Bio-Data scanned.]
[Compatibility: 30%. No robotic components or augmentations detected.]
[Unknown factor detected. Adjusting host Bio-Data for compatible Biomerge.]
[Process will take approximately 15,378 hours. Entering Standby Mode.]
And just like that, fate began to shift.
The Game of Destiny had begun once more—and Issei Hyoudou was now at the center of a game far greater than he could imagine.
Here's a new story idea I came up with a couple days ago. This will be a DxD and Megaman ZX crossover. I was reminiscing about where my profile name came from and remembered that I got it from the Megaman Zero series, which got me in the mood to revisit some of the old games. I particularly liked the ZX series so I decided that it would be a cool concept. I look forward to what the comments for this story are. : )
